Can we stop the leak completely?
What happened to the fishing industry there?
The people no need to eat fish?

    Posibly.

It more than likely temporarily closed down.

Well, it's not that they don't need fish. It's just that when fish are covered in oil, it tends to be a hazard to eat.

Yah we can definitely stop it completely in 3 months with the relief well, everything else is a temporary measure until the relief has been drilled.

It's more that when fish have ingested oil (directly or through the food chain)they are a hazard to eat.

That's true. But I was merely trying to explain that they didn't close the fish industry because it wasn't needed; but rather because the fish would kill/hurt those who eat it.

Yeah, and the oil won't hurt the fish, now will it..
Thanks BP for being cheapskates, for knowing that the valve was dysfunctional quite a while before the explosion of Deepwater Horizon, and for not having ever taken into consideration the possibility that it might be a good thing to repair it, even if it meant that a few bucks from your budget could not be invested in your big cars, and villas, thanks for never ever having thought about measures that you're supposed to take once a catastrophe like this happens..drill drill...baby, don't care about the rest...now do you?
Thanks for creating this black 'hole'. Thanks for willingly, and knowingly jeopardising nature, and the people who have built their existence on the fishing industry, and other things, etc.

Well, one positive thing: Now we can watch lamelliabrachia luymesi saying hello in even bigger numbers.

Anyway, apparently it will take around 3 months to close down the hole..well..if everything goes as planned...thus far every attempt to close it down has utterly failed. Imagine, how much oil will flow into the sea in 3 months..what was the daily rate again? 1000 barrels a day? Hmm..how trustworthy is this info anyway..surely just an other downplayed number.

I just heard that BP paid the state of Florida somewhere near 250,000,000 for damages. And then there are reports that Florida is going to use the money for marketing. To post advertisements that say: "Come to Florida, are beaches are beautiful." When it should be spent re-embersing families that are going to be effected by the oil; or even spending it to fund the clean-up crews.

However I don't know the credibility of these reports.

250,000,000? That's nothing compared to what they earn daily...93 million dollars daily..that's what they earn at minimum. And apparently the damages that the leak is causing daily lies around 17,5 million dollars...so yeah...250,000,000 is nothing compared to the damages BP has caused with its arrogant and selfish behaviour.

You'll get no disagreement from me. But, I do respect BP for saying we'll handle it, instead of leaving it for the government. The're doing more than the other two companies involved with the leak.

Yeah, I can see how they're handling it. They're so desperate that they've been asking for help from anyone who could come up with an idea. Just shows how much they ever thought about the consequences that things like these could have. They've got no clue. They should be sentenced as if it was for murder, and sea drilling should be made illegal. End of story. But nooooooooooooooooo...people are already preparing for Brasil...drill drill babyyyyyyyy.

True, they should have had foresighton the matter.

But I think ending sea-drilling is a little much. We have so much oil just waiting to be drilled from off the coast. Companies just need to take ALOT better precautions.

No matter how much BP is fined or must pay out to help with the loss of work we the people wll ultimatly pay for it with higher gas prices. It is just a matter of time now before the prices go up, up and away.

Never stopped to think of that. Gas is going to be expensive like crazy.

The spill has already gone way beyond just affecting the Gulf area.
In just the last couple of days I've seen blackened, oil covered Canadian Geese at freshwater lakes all the way into Kansas.
What a disaster. You can't begin to put a dollar amount on this.

This is a good reason to go totally electric. We have the technology right now.
There should never be another toxic gas powered mobile waste dump sold on American soil.
Every person can make a difference. Only buy totally electric cars from now on. No hybrids. Period.
You cast your vote where you choose to spend your money. It's that simple.

Internal combustion engines are just like smoking cigarettes in a restaurant.
It affects everyone, not just the sucker blowing the smoke. We all have to breathe the same air, drink the same water...
They are obsolete and no longer needed. So are the refineries and the Big Oil industry that powered them.

You can get a 300 horsepower total electric refit done on any car or truck in America, new or old for about twenty thousand dollars.

Tesla and a dozen other companies sell all electric cars. They have the horsepower, range, quick recharge time...

Shut down the greedy oil man, the middle eastern war machine, the whole toxic mess.
Should have been done a hundred years ago.

I didn't know it had gotten that bad. I thought it was just Gulf animals.

BP is trying to. But yeah you're right.

BP did nothing wrong. That was a brand new wellhead and there is no evidence to show it did not operate as it should have. The Deepwater Horizon was a drill rig, not a pumping rig, that means it drills the whole, leaves, and another rig comes and takes the oil. this was literally brand new high quality equipment.

BP did not cut corners in the making of the well head because they dont make the wellheads.

Besides the fact that the blowout preventer in the wellhead only works 90% of the time.
