What is the most racist nation?

.... How can a whole nation be racist?

Next in my racism threads is the issue of racism and nations, with some causal browsing of the web it can easily be found that nations like japan, Korea, China have high accounts of racism for some weird reason. Its not hard to figure that nations with supposed homogeneous populations would have problems with foreigners and other races, many nationals of these countries reply that "hey stop single us out, everyone country has racist and we all aren't racist..." something along those lines, a well known fact that racism is universal, true, but we are talk about caliber, is one country more racist then another? Certainly in countries with supposed homogeneous cultures and ethnicity a single foreigner is going to turn heads and bring about a lot of stares, questions, poking, exoticism and xenophobia, the inability to relies that said foreigner is just like you with common desires and emotions is in my opinion a form of racism, but certainly different from the "Töten Sie die Juden!" kind of racism we usually equate with racism. Certainly these countries have racism, but is it greater then the race riots and racial tensions of a multicultural society, does the possibly that far more of say Koreans are racist per populace then say Americans matter if the chances of Koreans expressing racism is far lower then say in America because of how far more rare other races are in their countries?

All countries are racist to some extent or the other. Otherwise they wouldn't keep out people based on random criteria.

A whole nation wouldn't be racist towards one group. However it is possble for a nation to be racist against several different groups.

So in escence you're asking: Does being more racist matter, if you act on it less?

Xenophobia can probably be distinguished from racism.

Countries with actual laws defining and distinguishing races, or a history of them and the continued presence of institutional residue, might safely be labeled as more racist. Why not?

I'd have no objection to ranking Brazil, or even Cuba, as less racist than the US or South Africa.

When I lived in S.E. Asia I witnessed a great deal of what might be called "racism" against foreigners (westerners), who were considered dirty, coarsely mannered, insensitive to locale, and ridiculously naive for their belief that S.E. Asians were somehow inherently "more good" than westerners - a race apart.

In other words, it wasn't at all a case of foreigners simply being novel curiosities. It stemmed directly from the behaviour of foreigners and to a great extent, justifiably so.

I'm not sure if this would be best labelled "racist," rather than "logical" in light of all they lived by themselves, and considered "right and proper".

I guess it would be racism in the event that foreigners who were in fact exceptions to the rule might nonetheless be tarred with the same brush - no longer judged on an individual basis.

However, it lacked (for the most part) any tangible negative symptoms. This "racism" was almost entirely veiled and imperceptible, limited for the most part to comments in a language few foreigners spoke, and a few childish ploys. So if racism is classified in part by negative behavior I would have to say that on the whole, this didn't qualify.

The homogeneous nature of the country obviously brought the differences into stark relief but I think this essentially ""non-racist racism (for want of a different expression) exists in less homogeneous countries too, but we are afraid to see it for what it is for fear of being labelled racist. In many respects it's simply natural.

In fact, what do you call this? Simply a culture clash?

I would actually label several south American countries a less racist then even the USA.

    Gypsi,

    I don't call this a cute clash:
UN commette report on Korean racism:
    http://seoulbuffoon.blogspot.com/2007/08/racism-in-korea.html
    UN update on Japanese racism:
    http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/nn20100226a4.html
How do you think multi-racial people are received?
    http://diversepurse.com/2009/11/09/...uths-deal-with-discrimination-in-south-korea/

I already mentioned that in an not so explicit by obviously failed attempt to try to quantify and compare racism of countries rather then state the obvious.

Racism is and was just a construct of governance, after all if all nations patrons could get on, why on earth would we need any politicians or any military? It's basically a human condition handed down from generation to generation made to impose authoritarian control over the masses.

Any you just thought it was because you didn't like the guy/gal:

for the colour of their skin
    Their religion
    Their language
    Their culture
    etc.

I disagree, racism is the construct of tribalism, as the outcome of selfish genetic ancient humans formed tribes and fought, killed and raped each other for resources. States and nations are the direct decedents of those tribes while racism is a direct decedent of the "us and them" mentality needed for tribalism.

Racism is really bad in the USA now because of Obama. His denouncing his white half, white relatives etc and his wife's hate of whitey/her country has flipped a switch in many Americans. A lot of people are thisclose to just going off on anyone who pisses them off. I have never seen the tension this high in this country in my whole life. The good, decent American citizens HATE that Muslim terrorists are making their lives Hell. They HATE that criminal aliens have invaded the country and are making people move OUT of CA, FL and AZ. They HATE all the crime. They just want to be left alone and have resorted to guarded/gated communities. We knew this was coming. It's just sad.
I disagree that racism is the outcome of "selfish genetic ancient humans..." It's the result of people associating certain people with certain behavior based on experience. It can also be taught.

I guess that explains his nomination of a white person to sit on the Supreme Court. Just as it explains how and why the majority of the people he has appointed have been white.

The most (blatantly) racist nation? A nation based on Zionism. Israel. Please convince me that Zionism does not equal to Racism.

Oh snap, I think I agree with the first part.

Certainly is a prejudice, but I would think Zionism is more about religion then race, true the Jewish race and the Jewish religion are hard to separate.

    Certainly,

Read the book "The Cleanest Race" I've read it, it quite chilling. North Korea have been indoctrinated for decades to believe that they are members of a morally perfect race, and that all other races are untrustworthy, unscrupulous, and down right evil.

    Here an excerpt:

Exactly, Jewish race and Judaism are hard to separate, I for example am not a practicing Jew but certainly I would have gone to the death camps if I was in Nazi Germany as a jew, Yet there are practicing jews who are clearly not in anyway Semitic, like Madonna. So there are 3 kinds of Jews: those born to the so called Jewish race (Sephardi, Mizrahi, Ashkenazi, ergo Semites) and those that convert to or born into the jewish religion, and those that are both.
