BP Macondo (Gulf of Mexico) Oil Spill

Oli covered birds cannot fly, so I don't know what you are seeing, maby:m:dreams.

I also never hard of canada geese in sea water. Sometimes people freak out about nothing, I once saw a video of a sprinklers spring water, the sun refracted off the water and formed a rainbow, the person suggested this was a sign of all the chemicals in the water.. fucking crazy!

The spill has already gone way beyond just affecting the Gulf area.
In just the last couple of days I've seen blackened, oil covered Canadian Geese at freshwater lakes all the way into Kansas.
What a disaster. You can't begin to put a dollar amount on this.

This is a good reason to go totally electric. We have the technology right now.
There should never be another toxic gas powered mobile waste dump sold on American soil.
Every person can make a difference. Only buy totally electric cars from now on. No hybrids. Period.
You cast your vote where you choose to spend your money. It's that simple.

Internal combustion engines are just like smoking cigarettes in a restaurant.
It affects everyone, not just the sucker blowing the smoke. We all have to breathe the same air, drink the same water...
They are obsolete and no longer needed. So are the refineries and the Big Oil industry that powered them.

You can get a 300 horsepower total electric refit done on any car or truck in America, new or old for about twenty thousand dollars.

Tesla and a dozen other companies sell all electric cars. They have the horsepower, range, quick recharge time...

Shut down the greedy oil man, the middle eastern war machine, the whole toxic mess.
Should have been done a hundred years ago.

In so many ways you have Ronald Reagan to thank for this.

His locking down of energy research at the national labs and redirecting it to his Stars Wars pipe dream set the US and the rest of the world back decades

But Damn Nancy dressed well didn't she..

You have proof of that, citation please.

Saw it first hand when I worked at the labs..oh wait I'm sorry you meant Nancy didn't you

Again you have citation to prove that there was governmental policy, locking down of energy research at the national labs and redirecting it to his Stars Wars pipe dream, under President Reagan, please provide such proof.

The funny thing is that from what I seen and read, SDI ended up being a successful program, and is still advancing.

We now have the capability to intercept missiles, satellites, we have even reached the point that incoming artillery rounds can be shot out of the air.

:roflmao::runaway::roflmao:

Wow buffalo, what art thou smoking?

We can intercept missiles, even satellites, but artillery rounds? Where the hell did you pull that out of?

How was SDI succesful?!? It was to set up a satelite grid over the US with lasers to shoot down ballistic missiles. Do we have satelites with freaking lasers attached to their freaking heads (Austin Powers referance)?

No we do not, ergo, SDI was a failure.

Hi, anyone here living near the coast of the oil spill? How is your seafood there? Expensive? Unsafe to eat? You can't swim in the sea now?
Very frustrating, right?

I talked with someone from NOLA today .. the other day you could smell/taste it in the air real bad :(... not exactly how far away that is..but sad

Really you need to do more research before you post, the Phalanx has been with us for a few decades, and ;

Phalanx CIWS: The Last Defense, On Ship and Ashore

The radar-guided, rapid-firing Mk. 15 Phalanx Close-In Weapons System (CIWS, pron. “see-whiz”) can fire between 3,000-4,500 20mm cannon rounds per minute, either autonomously or under manual command, as a last-ditch defense against incoming missiles and other targets. Phalanx uses closed-loop spotting with advanced radar and computer technology to locate, identify and direct a stream of armor piercing projectiles toward the target (see video: MPEG | AVI, with hat tips to the good folks at Digg.com).

These capabilities have made the Phalanx CIWS a critical bolt-on sub-system for naval vessels around the world. The latest fielded development is C-RAM/Centurion, a land-based system designed to defend against incoming artillery and mortars. This DID Spotlight article offers updated, in-depth coverage that describes ongoing deployment and research projects within the Phalanx family of weapons, the new land-based system’s new technologies and roles, and international contracts from FY 2005 onward. As of Feb 28/07, More than 895 Phalanx systems had been built and deployed in the navies of 22 nations.
I also believe that President Reagan talked about;

U.S. successfully tests airborne laser on missile

WASHINGTON, Feb 12 (Reuters) - A U.S. high-powered airborne laser weapon shot down a ballistic missile in the first successful test of a futuristic directed energy weapon, the U.S. Missile Defense Agency said on Friday.

"The revolutionary use of directed energy is very attractive for missile defense, with the potential to attack multiple targets at the speed of light, at a range of hundreds of kilometers (miles), and at a low cost per intercept attempt compared to current technologies," the U.S. Missile Defense Agency said.

Northrop Grumman readies laser-based anti-missile system for operational deployment

By John Keller
REDONDO BEACH, Calif. - Engineers at the Northrop Grumman Corp. Directed Energy Systems segment in Redondo Beach, Calif., are readying mobile high-power laser technology for deployment in the U.S. and abroad against short-range ballistic missiles, short- and long-range rockets, artillery shells, mortars, unmanned aerial vehicles, and cruise missiles.

The Skyguard laser defense system is based on technology that Northrop Grumman experts developed for the Tactical High Energy Laser (THEL) test bed, the Mobile THEL prototype, and its predecessors, which Northrop Grumman developed for the U.S. Army and the Israel Ministry of Defence.

SDI isn't dead, isn't a failure, Lazers are alive and well....just because of the cut backs it is a little behind schedule.

All that and just can't seem to clean up even one fucking Eco disaster. Those are always up to nature.

How many fucking arty rounds even have been needed to be intercepted? Yeah asymmetric warfare has to deal with that all the time...Never mind nukes no one really really has the strategic capability to use offensively via missiles.

So Trillions? Spent and NEVER FUCKIN USED. Well no one can even come up with a fucking dollar amount for this oil spill, and I can bet my life that no government/corporation will truly be able to solve this.

You have the GALL to argue about if a fucking useless, (yes never used is fucking useless) system works, in a thread about the oil leak in the gulf. WTF is wrong with you, get over yourself, your military "capability", your fucking country. You are acting the quintessential "Ugly American".

though ing Buffalo

like i said i was there I saw it happen.. I'm not going to do your homework for you............... prove otherwise

the word is thought .. DA

What home work? if there is no written policy to find then there is no policy, your the one making the claim that there was this policy,

not me, so ergo it is up to you to show such a policy existed.

Yes, you do seem to have lost your cool, but then it must be embarrassing to live under the protective umbrella of the United State defense system, but talk to PieAreSquared, he was the one to broach the subject.

The C-Ram, Phalanx-1B Centurion has been forward deployed into Iraq since 2005, and at the date of this article http://www.thefreelibrary.com/C-Ram--the+artillery+shell+zappers.-a0220469603had performed over 110 engagements of incoming threats in Iraq.

what you think i'm your bitch or something?

as much shit and hatred as you spew and not back your claims

lol images .. hey .. that's your method..
like i said .... I saw it happen..

Reagan help set back fusion energy research in the national labs ..is he totally blame for all of the set backs..no ..but he put us back decades
so deal with it :bawl:

I don't need to do shit for you .. so beat on your feeble little chest and think you won.. i don't care .. you're nothing in my eyes and I'm not alone here

run to mommy mod and get me banned .....

Again, it was you who made the claim, ergo it is up to you to present proof that such a policy existed, for the reasons you claim.

the marshes along the coast are used as resting places by migrating water fowl including canadian geese.
