It's supposedly an indicator of how much testosterone was fed into a fetus during prenatal development. In other words, a comparatively longer ring finger is an indicator of higher testosterone levels; as a result, males usually have longer ring fingers. Sucks to be you, thedevilsreject. Men and women are intelligent in their own ways - objectively quantifying two disjunct characteristics by lumping them into a single study will have flaws.
I either heard this, or read this somewhere about 10 years ago- it's kinda cool that you posted this because it confirms my memory wasn't a hallucination LOL. I wish I could find a link with more detailed information on this so I could refresh in depth. Also, if I remember correctly, the corpus callosum was found to be more efficient and faster in women's brains. It was also suggested that men are more prone to being dedictated mathematical/logical or creative/artistic thinkers as opposed to being both. .....need more info.
I remember reading a lot of stuff about the comparitive usage of the brain's hemisperes between men and women on a thread here not very long ago, someone should quote that thread. Of course, I would never waste my time trying to find it.
women being the physicaly weaker sex have had to play dumb toward men to try and not appear to be a threat. Women have taken this a step further and attempt to nurture their sons to be less intellegent than their daughters. however the social model is very strong and hundreds if not thousands of years of social and home culture is not replaced within just a few decades. Women will dumb themselfs down to be part of the group allot more so than men because being part of a group is far more important to women than it is to men, however this is changing with the more modern man.
I haven't read all the thread so this point may have been made already Firstly as with any intelligence test, the test is only as good as the person/s who devised the test. Were the tests devised my men? Did the tests cater more towards determing strengths that are manily male orientated than female? Bearing in mind men and women are likely to have differring areas of excellence in matters of intelligence. Testing intelligence will always be contentious issue as no one can surely know what is a good effective test and if the test is gerared more towards a male brain than a female. Set an intelligence test for example that requires multi taksing...how will the men compare to the women? If you watch tv challenge game shows where they have various challenges involving physical and mental skills, the women fair easily as well as the men often better. I imagine because when physcial tests are introduced a woman can bring to bear her 'multi tasking-problem solving' skills that men perhaps have in a smaller degree. Who knows? I do know that in schools in days of old, the teaching technique was geared more towards a male style of learning which is why boys did better in exmas at that time. Todays technique is now geared more towards a female style of learning and hence the girls are now doing better at exams than boys. The old style of seperate boy/girl classes for certain subjects with techniques catered towards that gender is thus the only real way to achieve equal or satisfactory results.
Women can always outperform men on any test. All they need to do is lift their shirts and show us their boobs and our IQs instantly drop into the 50s-60s
Was that ever in question? Only the very young and/or naive doubt that women are far superior to men.

come Then again women can get easily lost in the environment .... Men do not get lost, due to the speciel spatial recognition of their brains ...
Point? Doesn't everyone know this? I mean of course men are smarter. :runaway: Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I'd be wary of accepting that based on one study. The male contingent vs. female contingent thing is a valid issue. If you have a range of females who vary from very smart to average, but only the smart males tend to go to college, there's your skewed ratio right there.
