We all encounter data, some of which are profoundly revelatory in their own way. Which bits are of the utmost personal importance to you all?
Data happens to be a grammatically versatile word. While widely used in the singular, in which case "is" would be the proper verb form like you said, it is acceptable to use it in the plural - it is the plural form of datum after all. Sentences such as "the survey data are still being analyzed" and "the first year for which data is available" are both acceptable usages of the word. In scientific writing, data is often treated as a plural, as in "These data do not support the conclusions", but many people now think of data as a singular mass entity. Is grammar really that dear to you or would you mind contributing something more relevant to the community?
Technically, data is the plural of datum, so data are. "Reality is interpretation according to a scheme which we cannot escape."
That there is more fresh water frozen up in the Asteroid region of our Solar System, then there is on Earth. That there is more fresh water on just ONE OBSERVED ASTEROID (and counting), then there is on Earth.

There are many ends occuring at various points in time, is there a particular end to a particular happening that you would like to know the precise time of?
Never disclose personal bits of utmost importance to a stranger on the internet named Sin. I live by this profound wisdom always.
