My friend and I saw The Expendables earlier today. We both thought it was really cool. It didn't have some deep, intricate plot. But it was good, violent fun.
Here's a review of the movie... "A cartoonish symphony of muscles, bullets, tattoos and cigars, "The Expendables" is so determinedly old-school that its brisk action and bracing explosions take place not in the real world but on a mythical South American island named Vilena. If it does nothing else, it will make you nostalgic for a time when its more august actors, including Bruce Willis and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger in tiny cameos, were at least age-appropriate for their roles. With its roster of action stars listed on posters like a high-powered team of urologists — "Stallone, Statham, Li, Lundgren, Couture, Austin, Crews and Rourke" — "The Expendables" is also a place where lines like "Friends don't let friends die alone" and "Don't talk to me, cockroach" can find a happy home.other words, if you want to see old-fashioned nonstop mayhem with stars so venerable that "The Leathernecks" (and I don't mean Marines) might be an alternative title, reviews are going to be superfluous. If you don't want to go, no review can change your mind. Certainly not this one. " http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...jYmhBQ&usg=AFQjCNG1_5L7IgJlCZ5M8eOuQgFX9kY9lw
I've seen worse, actually. But this isn't the kind of movie you watch for great acting or a plot that makes you think. The kind of people who bitch about that sort of thing in The Expendables are probably the same people who complain that the story lines in porno movies are unrealistic.
There's proof of that though, a lot of very bored window cleaners and pool guys that actually only clean pools.
Saw it today. It was worth the wait. Not the greatest of acting, but the action made up for it. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
It was exactly as I expected it to be. Mindless action and questionable acting (pleasantly surprised by Mickey Rourke, however), with over-the-top action and amusingly cheesy dialogue. Turn your brain off and enjoy the spectacle.
I knew you weren't being serious, but I thought it was worth mentioning that I have seen worse acting.
Being a Stallone fan since Rocky and First Blood, I had to see it. I liked the movie, it wasn't great but was pretty much what I expected. I liked the cool old truck and plane they used in it. I thought it was kinda cool to see some of the old Action Stars come back together. All and all.....worth seeing IMO I have seen worse acting too...many many times Keanu Reeves comes to mind!!
I haven't, and I watch MST3K. In fact, I predict it will be a hoot on rifftracks. It was the same movie as MacGruber!
I agree, thought it sucked. Though, I have seen worse. There was a lot of action, which is about the only positive thing I can say about it.
For those complaining, what did you expect? seriously. Watched it with some mates, and really enjoyed it.
The action was great, the plot sufficed, the dialog was terrible...and inexplicably there was a lot of dialog. It's a decent popcorn movie if you can suffer through that, though.
The action sequences only reveal how much money was spent on such an awful script. Bruce Willis' talent is just wasted.
I do try to avoid bad movies. This one is right up there with the last Fast and Furious movie. Hey, let's ride big hogs and sit around our garage with our shirts off and give each other tattoos. It was super gay. Literally.
