That's right. This thread is about the tactice of suicide being used as a political/military/resistance tactic and the history thereof. The first known report that I could find was the case of a Mr. Rudolf Christoph Freiherr von Gersdorff, a German and whom was also Prostestant and those whom opposed the Third Reich. He was a German officer of the Generalmajor rank. He was the would be suicide bomber in a German military conspiracy to assassinate Hitler. Obviously, the modern implications of the above case are clear and I am not being vague in that I am directly referencing the cases of 'Islamic' suicide bombing. One could also include the Japanese kamikazi and kaiten and the LTTE ("Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam"). Discuss.

A suicide bomb used to take out a military target is one thing, a suicide bomb exploded among a crowd of civilians however is simply a dispicable crime. Arthur
Hmm first suicide "bomber" would have to be Samson. He killed three thousand Philistines and committed suicide in the process. Judges 16:26–30 26 Samson said to the servant who held his hand, “Put me where I can feel the pillars that support the temple, so that I may lean against them.” 27 Now the temple was crowded with men and women; all the rulers of the Philistines were there, and on the roof were about three thousand men and women watching Samson perform. 28 Then Samson prayed to the Lord, “O Sovereign Lord, remember me. O God, please strengthen me just once more, and let me with one blow get revenge on the Philistines for my two eyes.” 29 Then Samson reached toward the two central pillars on which the temple stood. When one decides to take their own life it only shows that they are... 1. Mentally unbalanced 2. Depressed 3. Ignorant 4. Easily manipulated by others Any way you look at it, suicide just doesn't make sense except to those who are manipulating others to do so for their own reasons.

I do think it's better to die by someone else's hand rather than your own without a doubt. I believe suicide is a fatal sin according to all major religions if I'm not mistaken.
