I know more about Tunisia than I did 5 minutes ago.
Your President is Ben Ali, and you all vote for him every time because he is much better than the opposition.

    "What opposition?", you ask.
Exactly. He's so good that no-one even bothers to oppose him.

    Wiki says this:

Many political prisoners remain in jails or in exile in and out of the country. Many disappearances, deaths and torture cases have been reported by human rights organisations. Many arrests are a result of individuals venturing into the internet to bypass government propaganda and controlled press. Ben Ali introduced a law that exonerates him from future prosecution and thus gave himself an amnesty.

It's a poorly written entry, and may well be full of errors.

Nevertheless, watch out for yourself Shadow.
I hope you are using some reliable method of concealing your whereabouts.

    Correct formula is:

The rate of population growth at any given time can be written:

Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!

    Where:
r is the rate of natural increase and is usually expressed as a percentage (birth rate - death rate)
t a stated interval of time, and
N is the number of individuals in the population at a given instant.

The algebraic solution to this differential equation is:

Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!

    where:
    N0 is the starting population
    N is the population after
    a certain time, t , has elapsed,
r is the rate of natural increase expressed as a percentage (birth rate - death rate) and
e is the constant 2.71828... (the base of natural logarithms).

    Population growth

ah ok, so, if you mean the fast growth from couple millions to 11 million today, then, it is a high number, but today the birth rate is 0.969, and wtf does that have to do with the relegion, it seems you have a complexe Chipz, anyway, and is it a problem for you to care of?

There's not true. The birth-rate is not near 0, it's 15.42 births/1,000 people per year. The fertility rate is 1.74 children per woman, the national growth rate is 97%.

Apparently you don't know your country better than I do.

The US-CIA holds one of the most reputable organization in the world. Their job is gather intelligence, and these very BASIC facts are easy for them to gather. If all of their sub-fields of research are combined...their total accuracy is higher than ANY OTHER agency in the world. That is - with significant competition from both Britain's MI6, and Israel's Mossad.

My statement had nothing to do with Islam in the sense of praise or critique, rather I was giving a relateable example of how populations shrinking and growing change the world.

I don't have a complex, but I do have an education. Do you?'

Emil's alternative equation is also valid. In that case your values would be:
\(10,000,000 exp((15-27 * 25.2)\) which is SURPRISE SURPRISE EMIL, identical to the value which I had already given!

I was joking, it's just that everyone I have met from Tunisia has spoken French to me, you have spoken French, etc.

Are you really asking me this?

    * * * * NOTE FROM ONE OF THE MODERATORS OF THIS SUBFORUM * * * *

Shadow: We received your report regarding the posts on this thread. When you ask people to tell you what they know about a country, politics is certain to be a very large component of the discussion and you have to expect that. Also, people are not very likely to cite their sources, since despite your wording they will tell you what they think they know, regardless of where they learned it. Much of what we know about any subject was learned so long ago that we can't possibly tell you where it came from.

You have to be reasonable about this. When you open a controversial topic, you have to be prepared for controversy.

Furthermore, this is not one of our more scholarly subforums, so we don't enforce the rules of debate and scholarship as rigorously as we do on the other boards. Personally I don't even like this board. I think it should be discontinued because it doesn't promote our mission. The more complaints I get about "About the Members," the more I dislike it. It takes time away from my primary responsibilities.

You guys want to do this. As far as I'm concerned, it's up to you to make it work. If you don't enjoy the conversations you have here, then don't have them.
