Zamzam is the name of the well that provides the water to billions of people, have thirstily drunk from throughout history, especially during the Hajj pilgrimage.

Zamzam is linked to some of the most important personalities in world history: the Prophets Ibrahim and Ismail (peace be upon them) and Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), as well as Ismail's mother Hajira (may Allah be pleased with her).

According to Islamic tradition, Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.) rebuilt the Bait-ul-Allah (House of Allah) at the site of the well, a building which had been originally constructed by Prophet Adam (a.s.), and today is called the Kaaba (Qiblah), a building towards which all Muslims around the world face in prayer, five times each day. Zamzam well is located approximately 20 meters east of the Kaaba. Zamzam well is located in Makkah, which is the heart of the Hajj pilgrimage. Zamzam well is 35 meters deep and topped by an elegant dome. The miracle water of Zamzam is still flowing until today. Subhanallah!

"The difference between Zamzam water and other (city water) was in the quantity of calcium and magnesium salts. The content of these was slightly higher in Zamzam water. This may be why this water refreshes tired Hajis, but more significantly, the water contains fluorides that have an effective germicidal action."

"The Saudi Geological Survey has a "Zamzam Studies and Research Centre" which analyses the technical properties of the well in detail. Water levels were monitored by hydrograph, which in more recent times has changed to a digital monitoring system that tracks the water level, electric conductivity, pH, Eh, and temperature. All of this information is made continuously available via the Internet. Other wells throughout the valley have also been established, some with digital recorders, to monitor the response of the local aquifer system.[1]

The water level is 3.23 m (10.6 ft) below the surface. A pumping test at 8,000 litres per second (280 cu ft/s) for more than a 24 hour period showed a drop in water level from 3.23 m (10.6 ft) below surface to 12.72 m (41.7 ft) and then to 13.39 m (43.9 ft), after which the water level stopped receding. When pumping stopped, the water level recovered to 3.9 m (13 ft) below surface only 11 minutes later. This data shows that the aquifer feeding the well seems to recharge from rock fractures in neighbouring mountains around Mecca.[citation needed]

Zamzam water has no colour or smell, but it has a distinct taste, and its pH is 7.9–8.0, indicating that it is alkaline to some extent and is similar to seawater."

Come the Hajj season, and I am reminded of the wonders of Zamzam water.
Let me go back to how it all started. In 1971, an Egyptian doctor wrote to the European press, a letter saying that Zamzam water was not fit for drinking purposes. I immediately thought that this was just a form of prejudice against the Muslims and that since his statement was based on the assumption that since the Ka'aba was a shallow place (below sea level) and located in the center of the city of Makkah, the wastewater of the city collecting through the drains fell into the well holding the water.

Fortunately, the news came to King Faisal's ears who got extremely angry and decided to disprove the Egyptian doctor's provocative statement. He immediately ordered the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources to investigate and send samples of Zamzam water to European laboratories for testing the portability of the water.

The ministry then instructed the Jeddah Power and Desalination Plants to carry out this task. It was here that I was employed as a desalting engineer (chemical engineer to produce drinking water from sea water). I was chosen to carry out this assignment. At this stage, I remember that I had no idea what the well holding the water looked like. I went to Makkah and reported to the authorities at the Ka'aba explaining my purpose of visit.

They deputed a man to give me whatever help was required. When we reached the well, it was hard for me to believe that a pool of water, more like a small pond, about 18 by 14 feet, was the well that supplied millions of gallons of water every year to hajis ever since it came into existence at the time of Hazrat Ibrahim(A.S.)many, many centuries ago.
I started my investigations and took the dimensions of the well. I asked the man to show me the depth of the well. First he took a shower and descended into the water. Then he straightened his body. I saw that the water level came up to just above his shoulders. His height was around five feet, eight inches. He then started moving from one corner to the other in the well (standing all the while since he was not allowed to dip his head into the water) in search of any inlet or pipeline inside the well to see from where the water came in. However, the man reported that he could not find any inlet or pipeline inside the well.

I thought of another idea. The water could be withdrawn rapidly with the help of a big transfer pump which was installed at the well for the Zamzam water storage tanks.
In this way, the water level would drop enabling us to locate the point of entry of the water. Surprisingly, nothing was observed during the pumping period, but I knew that this was the only method by which you could find the entrance of the water to the well.

So I decided to repeat the process. But this time I instructed the man to stand still at one place and carefully observe any unusual thing happening inside the well.
After a while, he suddenly raised his hands and shouted, "Alhamdullillah! I have found it. The sand is dancing beneath my feet as the water oozes out of the bed of the well."
Then he moved around the well during the pumping period and noticed the same phenomenon everywhere in the well. Actually the flow of water into the well through the bed was equal at every point, thus keeping the level of the water steady.
After I finished my observations I took the samples of the water for European laboratories to test.

Before I left the Ka'aba Sharief, I asked the authorities about the other wells around Makkah.
I was told that these wells were mostly dry. When I reached my office in Jeddah. I reported my findings to my boss who listened with great interest but made a very irrational comment that the Zamzam well could be internally connected to the Red Sea. How was it possible when Makkah is about 75 kilometres away from the sea and the wells located before the city usually remains dry?

The results of the water samples tested by the European laboratories and the one We analysed in our own laboratory were found to be almost identical.

CALCUIM & MAGNESUIM IN ZAM ZAM WATER:
The difference between Zamzam water and other water (city water) was in the quantity of calcium and magnesium salts. The content of these was slightly higher in Zamzam water. This may be why this water refreshes tired hajis.

    FLOURIDE IN ZAMZAM WATER:
But more significantly, the water contains fluorides that have an effective germicidal action.

Moreover, the remarks of the European laboratories showed that the water was fit for drinking.
Hence the statement made by the Egyptian doctor was proved false. When this was reported to King Faisal he was extremely pleased and ordered the contradiction of the report in the European Press. In a way, it was a blessing that this study was undertaken to show the chemical composition of the water.

In fact, the more you explore, the more wonders surface and you find yourself believing implicitly in the miracles of this water that Allah Ta'ala bestowed as a gift on the faithful coming from far and wide to the desert land for pilgrimage.

Let me sum up some of the features of Zamzam water:
Never Dried Up:This well has never dried up. On the contrary it has always fulfilled the demand for water.
Same Salt composition:It has always maintained the same salt composition and taste ever since it came into existence.
Portability:Its portability has always been universally recognised as pilgrims from all over the world visit Ka'aba every year for Hajj and umrah, but have never omplained about it. Instead, they have always enjoyed the water that refreshes them.
Universal taste:Water tastes different at different places. Zamzam water's appeal has always been universal.
No Biological Growth:This water has never been chemically treated or chlorinated as is the case with water pumped into the cities.Biological growth and vegetation usually takes place in most wells. This makes the water unpalatable owing to the growth of algae causing taste and odour problems. But in the case of the Zamzam water well, there wasn't any sign of biological growth.

Centuries ago, Bibi Hajra A.S. searched desperately for water in the hills of Saffa and Marwa to give to her newly born son Hazrat Ismail A.S. As she ran from one place to another in search of water, her child rubbed his feet against the sand. A pool of water surfaced, and by the grace of Allah Ta'ala, shaped itself into a well which came to be called Zamzam water.
    { May we appreciate and utilize this great Ni'mah of Allah Ta'ala}

We have recently realized the value of the use of amulets. It has been scientifically proven that water is affected by what is recited over it. Japanese researcher Masaru Emoto has had a unique experience. He said that he had read in a book that each snowflake falling from the sky is unique. He said that his scientific instincts told him that this was not true. The geometric shape of the snowflake is determined by its chemical composition. The composition of water is well known - two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. So how come snowflakes that fall from the sky are different from one another? He said: "I was determined to prove that this theory was false." He built a laboratory, consisting of a deep freezer with a regulator, because no liquid, subjected to sudden freezing, can assume a geometric shape. The freezing must be slow, so the atoms have the chance to crystallize into the shape decreed by Allah (SWT). There was a deep freezer with a regulator, a cold room at the temperature of -7°C, and several microscopes equipped with cameras, so he could photograph the snowflake before it melted. The scientists working in this room wore warm clothing. He said: "I took samples from two faucets in the laboratory, I froze them, and each sample gave me a different snowflake. The samples came from two different wells, two different rivers, from two different lakes. I almost went crazy and thought this was witchcraft." A Saudi student at the University of Tokyo happened to meet him, and asked him what was wrong. Masaru told him his problem. The student said to him: "We have blessed water, called Zamzam water. I will give you a sample of this water so you can experiment on it. Zamzam water is not affected by witchcraft or Jinns, so using it can prove or disprove the whole theory." Emoto took a sample of Zamzam water, and said: "I couldn't crystallize it, even by diluting the water by 1,000." In other words, he turned one cubic centimeter into one liter.

He said that when he diluted the water by 1,000 and froze it, he got a uniquely-shaped crystal. Two crystals were formed, one on top of the other, but they assumed a unique form. When he asked his Muslim colleague why there were two crystals, he told him it was because "Zamzam" is composed of two words: "Zam" and "Zam."

Masaru Emoto said: "My Muslim colleague offered to recite Koranic verses over the water. He brought a tape-recorder and played some Koranic verses, and we got the most perfectly-shaped crystals. Then he played the 99 names of Allah (SWT). Each name produced a uniquely-shaped crystal. Then he began cursing the water. We said: Water, you are impure. You are not suited for consumption. The water, in this case, did not freeze, or produced an extremely ugly crystal." When they uttered bad words like "war" or "fighting," the water did not freeze, or else produced an ugly shape. When the man completed these experiments, which lasted 15 years, he published a five-volume book called Messages from Water. He wrote: "I have proven that water, that peculiar liquid, is capable of thinking, fathoming, feeling, getting excited, and expressing itself."

Following was written by a Japanese Scientist Masaru Emoto:

The quality / purity of Zamzam water has, will not be find any where else in the water on this earth.

He used the technology named NANO, and researched a lot on Zamzam water. And found out that if one drop of Zamzam water mix in 1000 drops of regular water, regular water will get the same quality like Zamzam water.

He also found that a mineral in one drop of Zamzam water has its own importance that will not be find any other water on this earth.

He also found in some tests that the quality or ingredients of Zamzam water can not be changed, why, science does not know the reason.

Even he re-cycled the Zamzam water, but no change it was still pure.

This scientist also found out that, the Muslims say BISMILLAH before eating/drinking. He says that after saying BISMILLAH on regular water, there are some strange changes happened in the quality of regular water. That make it best water.

He also found out that if some one recites the Quran on regular water, it gets the ability for the treatment of different diseases.

Masaru Emoto is a Japanese author known for his claim that if human speech or thoughts are directed at water droplets before they are frozen, images of the resulting water crystals will be beautiful or ugly depending upon whether the words or thoughts were positive or negative. Emoto claims this can be achieved through prayer, music or by attaching written words to a container of water.

I don't know about the other stuff but I can vouch for two things:

    1. Zam zam has a distinctive taste. You can't mistake it for anything else [or vice versa]

    2. The germicidal properties are probably true, because I have stored it for years without the formation of any growths or deposits in it. Or any change in taste.

These are not my words or opinions as i stated in the OP, The people who took part in the experiments are listed, the names are there. the title of the japanese scientists books with his research are mentioned.

The experiments he used are explained and you are free to replicate these experiments at home like i will be doing.

How old are you by the way? what is with your exessive use of exclamation marks, this isnt a claim of mine im presenting information that i came across and i was posting it to see what people thought. You make it seem like i back his claims up or that i have a personal opinion to it which i dont yet have.

I will be getting a sample of ZamZam in less than 2 months, I will begin testing on its arrival, I have heard it is very salty from a few people.

I thought that maybe it was due to its likeness to sea water why it wouldnt allot plant life to spring up. But then I thought that was a useless comparison because plenty of life grows in sea water and around it.

So what do you guess is the chemical reason that no plant life seems to grow around its well?.

As far as i know none of the listend mineral traces have a negative effect on biological growth, I have noticed hot spring lakes in japan have high doses of calcium fluoride and magnesium etc in them also. but plants grow around them along with moss and algy.

    Yes.

    Sea water life.

Who knows? Although if we're going to invoke magic here, wouldn't the absence of plants at this well compared to any other suggest that the well's full of concentrated evil?

Or maybe there's some more basic biological reason, like salty water in the middle of the desert. Unless plants are filthy? Could be. They grow in poo, sometimes.

Its not salty, its brackish and has some kind of metallic aftertaste. I recommend however, that you get it from someone you trust. I have often found that people dilute zamzam when they bottle and sell it abroad and you can immediately tell the difference because the diluted zamzam will get spoiled - I only realised it after I went to Saudi and brought back several jerkins of zamzam from Mecca myself. The taste was different - i.e. more pronounced - and because of travel restrictions post 9/11 I was forced to keep it in storage, which is how I know it does not spoil.

Its underground? In a desert? Although the lack of any fungal growth on storage suggests that the mineral composition might interfere with plant life

edit: to be accurate I should say the lack of any visible growth. It is possible that halophilic organisms grow in it, but are not visible.

I never said they were your words, silly person.

How old am I? Exactly the same age as Fraggle Rocker and *considerably* more mature than you are, kid. And also old enough to not make all the stupid spelling mistakes you repeatedly do.

But my main point is that this section is supposed to contain SCIENTIFIC posts and threads and NOT this religious garbage. wake up and grow up!!

By the way, there's no such thing as "excessive use" (and that should be "usage", by the way) exclamation marks - the purpose of that was to indicate emphasis. Or perhaps that's yet another facet of language usage - like spelling - that you've not learned yet?

SO, show us some real science or drop the subject.

Theres no such thing as Magic lol just cause and effect.

I really dont know thats why I posted this here, I dont usualy post things like this I normally post things 100% in my own words from my own life experience along with my own philosophical understandings.

I lack knowledge about this I was hoping somebody on sciforums would be able to shed some light on this.

I posted this hoping somebody had a deeper understanding of the subject, my ersonal opinions are not included.

You come off in an immature way to be honest this is why I asked. Your post resembles that of a youtuber with mass amount of exclamation marks that are not needed.

I do not proof read my posts, I type very fast i do not use a spellchecker like firefox either. I dont even look at the screen when i type. 60% of my waking hours I spend writing and proof reading things, So in my spare time I dont really like doing work for free and having to put effort even the smallest amount.

You go and ask an Author to produce free articles that have been proof read and edited and see what the response is. Its like asking a pro footballer to go and kick around in the park for free and put the same effort in, he isnt going to do it.

I have read the rules of the science forum and this OP wa sin breech of none of them.

Yes that was what lead me to ask, in a desert underground away from sunlight will be enough reason to warrant the missing biological growth. When the water is then taken into sunlight and stored it still holds the same property this is why it seemed strange to me.

I will be getting the ZamZam water personaly after i visit Mount Sinai i will go to mecca, but one of my friends did offer to get me some sent fromhis family.

I understand that the laws do not apply to Zamzam water when going through airports, I read that they made a special law that allows muslims to bring zamzam to sick family members abroad.

I don't have a thing against wanting to gain understanding, in fact I think that's a very honorable and admirable thing.

And I'm not the least bit offended either. Rather, I'm a little disgusted from having read ALL that initial post looking for was was supposed to be related to Earth Science - and found practically nothing. Aside from the analysis of the water, there wasn't anything related - even remotely - to ANY form of science whatsoever. But instead, there was a lot of religious junk. And from a scientific standpoint, all my time and efforts were totally wasted.

Sorry for the late reply I had to quickly drop something off to my friend, I wanted to post the entire articles i sourced, Instead of just picking bits of it apart. I know its valid to quote segments of an article but i thought it better to leave it in its pure form.

The japanese scientist is what i was really most interested in, I was hoping people might be familiar with his work or read his books.

To me the idea of vibrations effecting the water as it freezes seemed very logical this is why i didnt dismiss any of these sources off the bat. When water is going through the freezing process it would be effected by any vibrational waves that pass through.

I have also read things in the past about hooking plants up to polygraphs which resulted in simular results when negative words were spoke.

I really want to stress that this was not my opinion I just wanted to discuss it with people here to gain a better understanding, im very busy with Work at the moment and studying old scrolls so i guess i was being a little lazy hoping people would save me some time pointing me in the right direction.

Thanks for accepting my apology ^_^

I chose to post this in the science section to avoid any religious debates, the last thing i wanted was for a bunch of religious people to jump in and say "its a miracle" or something like that.

I know the roots of this are of a religious basis but i was hoping to talk about the water crystalization and zam zam water in a purely scientific manner.

I will be conducting my own tests on the water sooin I will post my results on sciforums, I am going to replicate the process the japanese scientist used I will also be using some of Willheim reichs methods that he applied to Orgone testing just from a hunch i got on something.
