Genetics is just on facet to curing stupidity, Cybernetics is another and one...

I can see a very long line forming already for brain enhancing stem cells injections and Direct Brain Link PDAs. Making designer babies though tends to piss people off so the best future is in those that are already born.

So basically why nip it in the bud when you can do it later and get around all those dam Christian fundamentalist?

You forget, christian fundamentalists are against stem cell as well. We could always alter our dna using retrovirii, and that way we could alter those already living. But that would require activating those additions, and the effects may only be on newly made cell, and the brain cells don't often undergo cell division. I think we are still alot of research away till we get to the Khan Noonian Sigh stage of genetically tweaked humans. Anyone know where to get powerfull lab micorscopes on the cheap, preferably binocular and high powered?

If we can increase brain density with more neurons and connection then in theory it would make your more intelligent... could also do lots of other things though, such as enhance perspectives or produce certain odd psychological disorders

maybe as a thought experiment, but there is a huge variation in human brainsize and this doesn't seem to be correlated to intelligence.

 

Yes brain size has little correlation with intelligence but brain density (in particular regions of the brain) does. This density is cause by very well connected neurons and adding more neurons would in theory help... but not much because it would increase energy demands and there is only so much blood that can get to any area of the brain. I would always vouch for direct link cybernetics: I really badly need a PDA inside my head!

 

That's fantastic! I'm willing to try that before my original plan to just eat people.
