Stryder made me remember that there's still people who only use their phones for... phone purposes, and I felt myself silly for a moment remembering that although smartphone owners are a big chunch of the developed/developing world population, we're still not a majority.

I also remembered this adorable little phone, and it made me miss the times when things were so simple:

The address book is an actual little notebook attached behind it, apparently. Aww.

Wait! People actually talk on their cell phones? Huh. Weird.

I have the Droid Incredible, II. It's better than my sketchy Samsung Facinate. Nowhere near as nice as my iPhone.

I have a Google Nexus S. Prior to this I had a Motorola Milestone -- never buy Motorola.

I used to have a phone with a camera, until I broke it.
    Now I have a phone.
It is the third cellphone I have owned.
I broke the second one jumping into a dumpster.
Texting costs extra, therefore is not enabled on our plan.
I pay $20 a month for this phone.
I prefer to receive calls after 9 pm, when it does not count against my available minutes.

You need to add a few other smartphone OS's to your poll, not least Windows Mobile, Symbian, and Blackberry.

I've never had one, but the received wisdom is that Motorola stuff just breaks. I nearly got a Startac as my first mobile, but the nice lady in the shop steered me towards a Nokia 5110 instead. A colleague got a Startac, and within six months, the hinge broke.

Anyway, I have an HTC HD2 running Windows Mobile 6.5 and with the HTC sense interface, it's really quite good. I'll be switching to an Android powered HTC next time around, so there's more App support..

My boyfriend has the Droid X and it's pretty good. Worst phone he or I have ever had: Blackberry.

I had a motorola milestone. Touch screen broke within one year. I went to a regular cell phone(nokia with qwerty) that works perfectly for phone calls and text. Oh ya and the battery lasts a whole week and not half a day.

I can play games/apps on my computer. I do miss having a good camera built in though. This phone is only 2mp, it's only good for sending pictures of my junk (lol).

So it's worth asking about ALL OS's.

I have a very stupid phone, and most of the time I keep it off. I like the Johnsphones, but sometimes I want to text instead of talk.

Blackberries have a decent market share, and are popular amongst kids who text a lot, 'cos of the messenger service. Should have been included in the poll, as 'other' is quite misleading.

I voted 'No cellphone', but that isn't exactly true.
I do have one. Somewhere in a drawer that is. It was my first and last cell-phone. Used for about a year and it was the source of great irritation. Well, the phone wasn't at fault really, it was people.
Anyway, it's a Samsung SGH-R210S. Still works great by the way.

RIM has been taking a nose dive for quite some time. Their basically empty app store is one of the most common given reasons, along with years without any significant hardware innovation, a crippled retarded OS, and really bad leadership.

(I used to have a curve)

Besides, it's not kids bb markets to, it's suits. They have that whole email encryption thing going that supposedly makes sendind/receiving private corporete emails safer. The qwerty that used to be on all phones was also meant to enable fast emailing and whatnot.

Besides, to bbm you need all your friends to buy a bb too.
And who needs yet another messaging system? Who'd buy a phone just for messaging when there's about a hundred million options already?
