Why not study science , is part of nature like you and me , It is wonderful to know how nature is assembled, ( The Creator put his spirit in us so we can create also ) I enjoy exploring how things were made , that does not have any thing to do with my faith.
This is false assumption that God would undermine science . I would say He created life scientifically.

Either things came about through a scientifically understandable way, or it was a supernatural miracle. It cannot be both. But my point is that these basic questions of life the universe and everything are central to the pursuit of finding things out, scientifically or otherwise.

Except I don't delude myself into thinking I'm an artistic genius, while PP is delusional in his views about his scientific capabilities, in that he has none. Worse than none, he has plenty of demonstrably false claims.

Remember wlminex, if you don't know something it's better to keep your mouth shut than just make stuff up.

That is very narrow. Nothing inhibited me to get a degree in chemistry, no things are inhibiting my son getting a masters degree in biology and I continue encouraging him to continue to get a Phd , my other son worked in nuclear reactor, we believe and understand evolution, Perhaps in your mind natural things don't mix with spiritual things , but no one have to be like you.

Not all religious people do. There are still those trying to have creationism/intelligent design inserted into the curriculum of the science classes in the USA.

    Not to my knowledge.

What? That's one of the easiest things to explain in terms of natural selection.

    Found it:

    http://www.sciforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=58

    Religion Archives
    Threads: 8,121
    Posts: 343,697

Plus the current 651 threads and 46,344 posts.

So the religion forum has much more posts than evident on the front page.

    Yep,
sadly this forum has died a natural death.
It's been overrun by the mindless mainstream.

Sure there's some science to be found but it's all highly specialised maths and physics stuff which is inhabited by super focussed sciency folk and is as boring as the religious waffle.

    so sad.

I regularly dumped the "over one year" threads from the religion subforum into it's archive counterpart, the main reason for this was purely to keep the system tidy and stop old threads being "bumped" by one post wonders (which are usually spam bots)

Didn't you know that the subject of God is up there with Viagra, Cialis and Breast implants?

Its a quality of god to be famous and widespread ... Dawkins can only hope in vain to be as famous as Viagra

... And probably why Virus writers named one "Zeus".

Which incidentally brings us to the point of religion being a Virus (e.g. Dawkins), which is understandable if you deny people the right to use Contraception

(which is exactly what some religions do)

Incidentally Virus writers also tend to try to "disable" programs that stop viruses spreading, proving that religion is hellbent on spreading it's virus.

(This incidentally is a tongue in cheek humour attempt, not a factual account, although some of the truth is embedded within it)

You can't keep a good man down ....

I guess this would indeed be a challenge for a man trying to come to grips with the fact he will never be more famous than viagra .....

And I third. I live in Portland Oregon, and we have (maybe had?) more microbreweries per capita than anywhere in the US, some of the best beers I have ever had were brewed locally.

    This is not fair.

For one, it is not fair because threads from other forum sections remain in the active part of the forum for years.

For two, it is not fair because archived threads/posts do not appear in the ordinary search, and so when searching something in the religion section, one has to check both the currently active forum as well as the archives.

So? Just goes to show what is the most on people's minds.

Actually it's way beyond fair considering it's actually a method that I had posed should be used with all subforums for years. You see one of the main problems is "necromancy" in regards to old threads suddenly being given new life, you might think that continuing a discussion years on shouldn't be a problem however usually the members of old that had that discussion initially have moved on and likely don't share the same view back when they held that discussion.

In essence the forum software should really be set to close threads when they have over 12months of inactivity (and move them to an Archive), this stops extremely old threads that have been well spidered from being targetted by spambots that only learn of the thread from successful spidering and identify that the thread is still open.

If people want to use old archive threads as proportion of their discussion in a new thread, it's not so difficult to quote or post a link to the previous thread.

It also gives people the chance to read through completed discussions, rather than see the usual tangents as people digress from the initial subject.
