Maybe it would help them maintain for a short while. A small amount of resistance to fully turning.

He is a beast, and assuming these are the Zombies that don’t eat animals he would be such an advantage to my group. Also keep in mind natural types of dog food are very healthy so in the event of a zombie apocalypse when everyone is raiding the Wal-marts and Krogers. I will be raiding Petco and Petsmart for the jerky’s and pet food.

I don't understand the people who are suggesting weapons like swords or axes. Those are close-combat weapons for one-on-one fighting. Zombies travel and attack in hordes - everyone knows that. Weapons that require you to get within arm's reach of zombies are worse than useless - they are just dead weight that will slow you down when you run away. Trying to stand and fight a zombie horde with a sword is just a recipe for getting swarmed and devoured, even if you do manage to behead a few of them before being overwhelmed.

What is really needed is weapons with a good stand-off distance that can attack large crowds, but which don't present too much difficulty with ammunition supplies or weight/protability. I'm not sure what that would be, if machine guns or artillery are off the table - maybe flaming arrows?

You never want to set zombies on fire. Then you have a massive horde of flaming zombies walking towards you catching everything else around on fire. Guns are good at first until you run out of ammo (unless you know how to self-load like I do). Swords, axes, spears, etc aren’t a bad idea if you’re doing some recon or quick moving through out cities or the country side in case you encounter just a few stragglers. Personally I’ll keep my sawed off Mossberg with “2 dollar shot” for when they come in close use that to thin them out, and then run away sword in hand. If you’re in a standoff position within a decent fortified location you could always try to make your own ballista or trebuchet. That would keep you busy and it would be fun to periodically kill zombies trying to come towards you.

I also pictured myself using a backhoe, front end loader and a bobcat to dig myself a very nice ditch/trench around my property. Probably about 15 feet deep, this way I could occasionally walk around it with a jug of petro and just burn them without the fear of them spreading flames.

    Dog food or cat food...
    No thanks
Have you ever seen dual survival. That stuff will give you the worst gas. But thanks for the tip.
I may want my machete. But I
    would definitely want a AA12.

A flame thrower would work well for dealing with the flesh-hungry horde

I've been following "The Walking Dead" on NetFlix and think it's probably the best zombie show I've seen yet. I highly recommend it. The only problem is that I don't get AMC, so I can't watch the new episodes as they come out. Even my wife enjoys watching the show.

I didn't look for the information as of yet. But aren't flame throwers only good for about 30seconds? And the fuel used is very heavy to wear for long periods?
Hey look I found time to find some stuff...

    The site ....
    http://www.ww2gyrene.org/weapons_flamethrower.htm
    Mentions this ..
So give or take 10-23 seconds of burn time. With a heavy backpack.. Give me that AA12 please and a heavy back pack of ammo. And I will kill more zombies.

Giving me 30 seconds with a flame thrower, I bet I could light up quite a few of those zombie buggers. I think it would serve well for crowd control. Of course, I would want backup, so your AA12 would be welcomed.

I think in the images there is a silencer. The only way it may get better is if there was a 203 attached to it.

question what would you do if aliens and zombies tried to take over the world at the same time? i would think it would require a better survival strategy than hiding on a second level building with the way up barricaded and only going out for supplies when needed... >.> <.< i would carry a .22 rifle with a good clip and a good melee weapon like a axe if one can be found...the trick is what to do with the aliens...i guess if the military is up in smoke by that time ill try raiding one of the bases ....

    Well cadas. Welcome to sci.
If I knew aliens where here it may be too late. Having to deal with Zombies and then presto aliens are here. Supplies are running low. Non zombies are few. Aliens my be turned or killed by zombies. It may be safer to get a boat and go to a small island and hope aliens don't show up there. You might be able to call your lil' island a defensible place, for a long while. But if you could bring enough non zombies maybe it could be made into a suitable place.
Maybe Jamaca, burmuda, or one of the islands in the Keys.

This looks like a good place to dig around!

Zombies can certainly be pretty frightening, it's true.

But you should be OK if you remember a few simple things. Here are some useful tips from my own personal experience.
You could wait for the government to deal with the situation, but they only come through in the movies.

So, If a hightech solution is simply not available...

...I recommend taking matters into your own hands. A low tech approach is often sufficient to get the job done.

But keep in mind that zombies are highly infectious. Don't ever let your guard down.
