If you can ignore the 80% of "noise" from wags, loonies and worse,
there is a fair amount of real science here.
But there is less than there was.
And there is more and more "fringe"

Another problem is with people who revolve every issue around themselves.
Why do they think that way?
If I was a moderator, I would find it annoying.
I wish people would accept moderation as a necessary evil.

    Here's an outrageous idea:
What if moderators would accept posters as a necessary evil!

I wish moderators would accept evil as a necessary moderation.

Ain't it fun when the definition of evil becomes necessary to determine the level of moderation?

How long do you think you'll keep coming here if all moderators quit right now?
    I suspect not a week.

    False dilemma.

How so? If moderators would have to accept posters as a "necessary evil" (in the current context), there might as well be no moderators.

    And no posters!

    Bah.

The issue at hand are double standards and preferential treatment for some, usually moderators, at the expense of others, usually posters.

    Really? Explain that one please.
Are you saying that Gustav didn't have it coming? The guy should have been banned years ago, according to the site rules by the way.
He was lucky to last this long. Anyone else would have been banned long ago.
    So yeah.. double standards..

Several posters have been talking about it in this thread all along.

I'm sure there are people here who think Gustav "had it coming," whether "according to the site rules" or not.

A "shit-stirrer" doesn't take a good thing and turn into a bad one. When things are bad, woe be the one to make people aware of that. It got Jesus killed!

Whatever floats your boat, I guess. Comparing Gustav to Jesus is taking it a bit far, perhaps.
What I'm curious about is what you think it will accomplish to keep talking about it.

Clearly, there is something boiling underneath Sciforums, hence all this talking, and beating around the bush.

Excuse me, you have been here at sciforums for how long? Five years? When has it ever been different?

Doesn't change my opinion that there is something boiling underneath Sciforums, hence all this talking, and beating around the bush.

Then it has been boiling for years. So, in your opinion, what is it and when will something finally come of it?

Accepting abusive posters as a necessary evil? Hmm.

What if cops would accept criminals as a necessary evil?
What if doctors accepted cancer as a necessary evil?
What if pilots accepted midair collisions as a necessary evil?

    Few people would like that.

    The human condition, I suppose.

Perhaps never. Or when each poster cleans up in their own mind.

Some say the world will end in fire,
    Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
    Is also great
    And would suffice.

Well yeah, but then it's not just sciforums that's got something boiling underneath it.
Besides, there is no escaping the human condition.

Billvon is placing your comment in the context of the posts before yours, including the one you replied to. As did I.
Frankly, I don't see what point you were trying to make if your post shouldn't have been read in that context.
