The LD50 for distilled water is ~90mL/kg. For a LARGE woman, (100kg) that is nine liters in a single dose.
I can't get over the fact that she was only 31 and had 8 kids. I mean, come on, she smoked heavily, skipped meals (so she obviously didn't eat well) , had a swollen liver and rotted teeth. And it was also stated that she had been in ill health years before her death. How can the coroner blame Coke? How soon til we start blaming Starbucks?
how is a cause of death blaming anything? If you have a knife through your chest your cause of death is stabbing (actually its probably shock caused by exsanguination caused by stabbing but anyway) but that's not blaming the knife
the coroner is blaming Coke usage and wants warning labels on cans. As if a warning label would have prevented her (or others) from drinking so much of it.
Can you please show me where in the artical it says that. The only spot I could find ANYTHING like that was where the video said that he recommended caffeine levels be put on food labels which seems sensible considering that everything else has to be on those labels anyway. Not necessarily for THIS case but I personally know of a kid who was doing an all night ANZAC vigil who drank 5 cans of V in a row and then collapsed
Yeah, I read more than just the link here. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-204_162...ter-linking-womans-death-to-coca-cola-intake/
Try reading the actual report http://www.justice.govt.nz/courts/c...marie-finding/view?searchterm= Natasha Harris I can't copy it as its a scanned "picture" of the document in PDF format so you will just have to read it for yourself
Yeah, not gonna read a 19 page autopsy. Started too, but there are gross parts. Anyways, he has had more to say to the media since the report, especially considering the fact that she died 3 yrs ago in 2/2010
Umm its NOT a 19 page autopsy, skip past the autopsy report to the last 4 or 5 pages where the coroner (not the pathologist) is discussing his findings Or do you consider "hypokalima" to be a "gross bit"
Mrs. Orleander, representative of the Coke corporation, I understand you have sufficient doubts in your mind regarding the Natasha Harris vs. Coke Corporation case. In fact I personally agree to the doubts of the coroner's unscientifically based diagnosis of cardiac arrhytmia, clearly Coke has not just not been part of the young passionate health minded woman's downfall but...improved and prolonged her health. As you and I both know Coke corporation strongly encourages healthy activities as part of the daily exercise...we are the foremost health conscious company in the world, making kids healthy and weight conscious all around. And Starbucks' Peppermint White Chocolate coffee beverage is the conscious way to go, at just 1000 calories per cup. Clearly this woman did not die from Coke or had she drank Starbucks as much, neither is Starbucks would have been a culprit. The main culprit is of course her indiscriminate exoteric constituency. I rest my case.
Ah yes, never get the truth from the source when you can get a potentially sensationalised "version" from a media which isn't even in the same country right
Wouldn't she have had Type II diabetes in addition to all her other ailments? About 85 ounces of sugar a day, her pancreas must've been going nuts. So...she maintained her 'normal' weight by smoking 30 cigarettes a day. Nice
This is why we come to SciForums. Our members are educated, literate people who, we hope, have the skill to provide a really concise, accurate abstract of a document like this. So we don't all have to read the whole damn thing ourselves!
