did gravity change? yes. did the Egyptians could care less, because it was "negligeble"? yes.
earth axis change caused less gravity? perhaps. earth axis change known as earth axis precession makes a complete loop every 26,000 years...that just destributes the mass, which changes the gravity field of Earth.

Some place on Earth have much less gravity than others and this isn't just because of the oblateness of Earth and because there is more mass at the equatorial latitude.

The island of Male in Laccadive Sea seems to have the least amount of gravity than any other place on Earth....straaange.
in fact the really low gravity field at Maldives causes the sea level to decrease there, whereas just 1000 miles off from Maldives the sea levels are rising!

Astrologers take that into account. After all, astronomy was the first science and astrologers were the first astronomers.
The "Age of Aquarius" is when the sun is in the star sign of Pisces but physically in the constellation of Aquarius. This is truly "the dawning of the Age of Aquarius," as the song goes. I don't know if astologers define an actual date at which the zodiac has precessed by exactly one sun sign, but it's loosely defined as the last decades of the 20th century. This coincides with the most recent technological paradigm shift, from the industrial era to the electronic era, as well as with the coincident social and political changes after WWII, so it makes as good a temporal landmark as any. Aquarius is said to be the sign of scholarship, foreshadowing this new age of enlightenment.

I don't feel like Googling through astrology websites for information, but I recall that in the 1960s all the astrology-woo-woo folks were agreeing that the motif by which the Age of Pisces will be remembered is the rise of Christianity, and they all nodded their heads sagely and said, "well of course, look at all the harbingers."

Although we now use Latin and Greek words as the vocabulary of astrology, two of the major civilizations that arose at the dawning of the Age of Pisces, in fact the vast majority of its principles go back much further and would more appropriately be attributed to the Age of Aries--Stone Age cities and the early Bronze Age. Frankly I would expect that it goes back way beyond that but we have to stop there because that's when writing was invented. I'm sure the Paleolithic shamans invented most of the lore that's been passed down to modern astrologers. Perhaps it goes back to the last Age of Aquarius in 24000BCE.

So after age of Aquarius or so called "age of enlightment", what comes next? The dark times?

After Aquarius comes Capricorn the Goat. So the world will be inhabited by goats who can eat all the tins cans and junk that we leave. They have a couple thousand years to clean it all up before the Centaurs get here. After them come the scorpions and once they are gone the world will be in balance (Libra). Or not.

Velikovsky was not a "cosmologist". He was (rather more appropriately) a psychiatrist.

He was also a part-time idiot, as his remarks above, on the failure of atmospheric gases to separate according to their density, makes clear. A moment's thought about the kinetic theory of gases would make the answer obvious. As for the ozone remarks, again a moment's thought about how ozone is formed and how, being reactive, it is removed from the atmosphere, would again make the answer obvious.

Yes, if the gravity of earth was less in the past then it would take less force to move objects. (There is no evidence of this)

Aerodynamics still apply with less gravity. If any object could fly then all objects would fly, including people.

Less gravity could mean larger animals, it could also mean less atmosphere and a myriad of other things. Hair is correlated to temperature mostly so I don't know of any effects on that.

A change in the position of the axis of spin wouldn't do that as currently our axis wobbles and we don't see any effects.

The earth used to spin very fast, so much so it would fling us off.

Our moon has slowed that spin down over time to what it is today.

lol I was wondering if anyone would notice I snuck that in there =o) ok, ok, maybe I exaggerate a bit. I may be wrong but I believe the fastest we know the earth ever completed a full rotation was during the Denovian period and it was something like 18 and a half hours.

    minimum slowing down rate: 0.0015 seconds/100 years = 0.015 seconds/1000 years = 0.15 seconds/10,000 years = 1.5 seconds/100,000 years = 15 seconds/1,000,000 years = 150 seconds/10,000,000 years = 1500 seconds/100,000,000 years = 15,000 seconds/1,000,000,000 years
    maximum slowing down rate: 0.002 seconds/100 years = 0.02 seconds/1000 years = 0.2 seconds/10,000 years = 2.0 seconds/100,000 years = 20 seconds/1,000,000 years = 20,000 seconds/1,000,000,000 years.

Our Earth currently completes a 360 degree rotation in 23 hours and 56 minutes.

    * .5 billion years ago, Earth rotation was this much faster than now: 15,000*0.5 =7,500 seconds to 20,000*0.5 = 10,000 seconds. Earth rotation increase: 2hr5min to 2hr46min

    * 1 billion years ago, Earth rotation was this much faster than now: 15,000*1 =15,000 seconds to 20,000*1 = 20,000 seconds. Earth rotation increase: 4hr10min to 5hr33min

    * 1.5 billion years ago, Earth rotation was this much faster than now: 15,000*1.5 =22,500 seconds to 20,000*1.5 = 30,000 seconds. Earth rotation increase: 6hr15min to 8hr20min

    * 2 billion years ago, Earth rotation was this much faster than now: 15,000*2 =30,000 seconds to 20,000*2 = 40,000 seconds. Earth rotation increase: 8hr20min 11hr6min

    * 2.5 billion years ago, Earth rotation was this much faster than now: 15,000*2.5 =37,500 seconds to 20,000*2.5 = 50,000 seconds. Earth rotation increase: 10hr25min to 13hr53min

    * 3 billion years ago, Earth rotation was this much faster than now: 15,000*3 =45,000 seconds to 20,000*3 = 60,000 seconds. Earth rotation increase: 12hr30min to 16hr40min

    * 3.5 billion years ago, Earth rotation was this much faster than now: 15,000*3.5 =52,500 seconds to 20,000*3.5 = 70,000 seconds. Earth rotation increase: 14hr35min to 19hr26min

*4 billion years ago, Earth rotation was this much faster than now: 15,000*4 =60,000 seconds to 20,000*4 = 80,000 seconds. Earth rotation increase: 16hr40min to 22hr13min

Before 4 billion years ago the moon was not formed, thus Earth rotation was not getting faster.

...Does this mean that 4 billion years ago Earth rotation was...17 minutes? lol...

    Obviously wrong...

so than I find this equation here:

, where w0 is our current rotational velocity, a the distance between the Earth and moon, r the radius of the Earth, and w is what we are trying to calculate.

i agree with james r that the earth is gradually slowing down as it is accepted fact but there is no significant change that a normal human being can notice

I wonder, did the egyptians build (more?) when the moon was over their area ?
It would probably make little difference, but building the pyramids were some big projects, and
if they knew about the moon also having gravity they might for example choose the to lift the heavier stones when the moon was present, and focus more on smaller stones when the moon was away.

Indeed. Have you investigated the magnitude of the effect?

It is approx 1.1 x 10 ^-7 g, that is , it reduces the weight of objects on the Earth's surface by about one ten millionth, or by 0.00001%. See this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tidal_force

That's a much lower magnitude then i expected, thnx for the formula.

The sea levels of Maldives ARE rising - they've even earmarked a s**tload of money to pay Australia for the right to set up home there when their paradise finally goes under. They are one of the main drivers behind global climate awareness initiatives and have lots of domestic laws now governing this too.

I went there a few years ago and they are very strict about how you dispose of plastic (eg. the many water bottles you burn through while there), because they don't have a disposal facility. In fact, they have a Rubbish Island near Male where they literally pile trash real high on a coral island and the trash overflows into the sea and washes up on nice resort beaches nearby within the atoll.

Are you suggesting that the tiny island of Male has lower gravity than its neighbouring islands, because I assure you the sea levels in Maldives ARE rising fast and Maldives will be among the very first victims, and certainly the first MAJOR victim, of climate-change-induced rising sea levels.

    No. Of course not.

Though there are some, very tiny, variations in the strength of gravity on the Earth's surface, due to the variations in density of neighbouring rock masses.

will or taken will amongst people right and reason are human. gravity is weight and order,, the pyramids were probably built with integrity for the human ethics to be exampled as humile to the cosmic. perhaps the pyramids had been built out of honor and concern that non human nature continue to gift in the righteous ways that it does.

With Anew the tides are rising intracranially. Probably more to do with electrolytes than gravity, although the doc has suggested no more headstands, even when moon is at perigee.
