    Some people will assign terms such as spiritualism, black magic or clairvoyance to the realm of the supernatural. Others will deny their very existence and dismiss them as mere figments. However, these issues are neither supernatural nor pure fantasies. Reiner Niessen, one of the few remaining Zen masters in this world, unveils the logical explicability of such phenomena in his book “Bios Logos – The Doctrine of Life” (available as ebook from Amazon).

    If this posting is called "spam", I am sorry. I just think, this book can be very interesting for this forum. In any other case - the author of the book is ready to discuss with you about the book and theses and logical experiments from the book.

    Can you give us some kind of summary that might elucidate his theories ? That's what normally happens in discussions.

    Or are you merely touting the book ?

    True (and untrue). Yes, I joined to promote the book. No, it is not my book. Its a book from a friend.

    But: Why I can not notice this (special interest) forum about this (special interest) book? How many times you get the chance to discuss with a Zen master about a book, blacklisted and censored for some time in Germany (caused by the catholic church), who maybe can be explain everything about religion, parapsychology & life?

    Yes. But usually you read the stuff before you discuss it.

    But in any case: I will ask the author about a summary. Stay tuned.

    I don't think you can post to a discussion forum, saying 'go read that book and then let's discuss it'. How many poeople do you really think are going to go buy the book, read it, and then come back to you at a later date ? It rarely happens IMO, and the book could be mere nonsense (I'm not saying it is).

    Yes, a Zen master .. blacklisted .. etc, all very interesting. See if you can come up with some workable summary to inform us further.

    Though I have to say, your ..

    who maybe can be explain everything about religion, parapsychology & life?

    .. is, emm, tentative at best. How many great minds have struggled with THOSE issues ? There's nothing new ubder the sun IMO, though I've never heard from a Zen master before ..

    sample text from "Bios Logos - The Doctrine of Life"

    Oh yeah, you got me. This was maybe too much. Maybe I am too impressed about what the book author can do with his knowledge in the real world. Sorry

    Anyway, you want a summary, you got a summary:

    The author says, that there is no magic, no telepathy, no poltergeist, no astrology, no voodoo, no clairvoyance - in the common sense. These phenomens have all logical explanations, which can be found in the old religions and will be explained in his book.

    And, with the permission of the author, I can share one chapter of the book with you (unfortunately one chapter without pictures, because I not able to post pictures or links here):

    The words you quoted in the quote box in the above post (#6) were yours, not mine.

    Thanks for the summary. I've downloaded it and will read it.

    Herb; having read through the summary a couple of times I agree there's certainly some perspicacious material there, so compliments to the author for that. Some issues that I would comment on ..

    1) In post #6 you said;

    The author says, that there is no magic, no telepathy, no poltergeist, no astrology, no voodoo, no clairvoyance - in the common sense. These phenomens have all logical explanations

    However in one section of the summary the author says;
    We know this from military marches, the drums of war, or from an older example of the trumpets of Jericho, where the mental state through the combination of physical exhaustion and anticipation led to the fact that the phenomenon of psychokinesis could be reinforced so much that the walls of the city Jericho collapsed.

    The phenomenon of psychokinesis as a consequence of the stated causes (or in any event), hardly sounds like 'common sense, logical explanation' as per your above statement.

    2) In the last sentence, the author said;
    Perhaps man himself would then again be a useful part in the miracle of life and not the skin disease of this earth.

    That is a rather unbecoming statement for a Zen master. Does he consider himself (and his kind, his associates, family, etc) part of the skin disease ?

    3) Whilst as I said, the material is in many places very good and insightful, is is hardly the stuff for which one would be censored and blacklisted. He certainly drew some interesting facts together .. showed how mankind proceeds to make the 'fantastic/religous' out of normal things, but really, there was nothing there earth-shattering, or that one wouldn't find in many other places if undertaking such an enquiry.

    Good stuff though - though it seems like it's been badly translated in parts .. bad grammar, etc, but no big deal.

    The author give me a very long statement in german, which is too difficult to translate. So in short (from what I understand): Maybe for other people it looks like a "phenomen". But for these people who understand it, its just logical and can be repeated.

    For 2) + 3) I will answer you later.

    Sorry, I don't understand what you're saying. The issue in question on this point is 'psychokinesis'. Not abmiguous in any language. Your above sounds like a bit of a dodge.

    Its just mean: Man is the only one who can disturb the balance of nature on earth. So we should take a step back from the idea of mankind as the summit of creation.

    Some of the points in the book demystifies religions - who is anytime a big concern for the catholic church. Count in, that the original release of the book was provided from a publisher of parapsychologic & esoteric books in Germany - who is owned by the catholic church (the author doesnt know it before). So they try to control a little but all releases on parapsychologic and similar themes

    I talk with the translator of the book. He say, that he try to convert the original grammar style of the author - meaning long sentences, whos mainly uncommon in english. But the translator say, that he see this way as the only way to transport most of the (german) original.

    If its repeatable, there must be a logical explanation.

    But: Not think too high. Psychokinesis is not the "art of breaking walls" (of Jericho). The most of practical use is very much smaller than this.

    Herb, your proficiency in English seems to have deteriorated in your last couple of posts. Neither did those posts really address the issues I raised - they just sound like some backtracking. No matter. Wish the author good luck with the book for me.
