I came to this realization after a lot of reflection over many years.

Have you ever wondered why prayers go unanswered? Why innocent people have to suffer? Why you never hear from a person again once they're dead? Why very good things often happen to those who don't deserve it? Why very bad things often happen to good people? Why an asteroid can strike this earth at any time and literally wipe out all life from our planet?

It's not because God works in "mysterious ways" or some contrived explanation like that. It's because we live in a universe that is guided completely by mindless, naturalistic forces, and there is no supernatural being or creator of any kind who looks after us, cares for us, or that will save us when we are in trouble. Maybe there never was such a being. This is the only good explanation for why things happen the way they do. Take God out of the picture and everything becomes crystal clear to me now.

How would you answer to this

Every Sunday morning I have the pleasure of studying with two Jewish surgeons. Each week we explore the meaning of a section of the siddur (daily prayer book).

We were up to the Shema, the most prominent – and fundamental – Jewish prayer. “Hear O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is One.” Hear means more than just uttering words; it means hear the deep message and internalize it in our hearts and minds. When we say the words “God is One,” we are saying everything in the universe concurrently exists because God wills it to exist, and that life’s occurrences are a result of God’s inner-workings and underpinnings of the world.

The Shema expresses our complete devotion to God, regardless of our life circumstances. We are recognizing that everything is ultimately part of His Divine orchestration. Every time we cover our eyes and proclaim God’s unity, we are essentially stating that regardless of what is in front of my eyes today, regardless of whether life is delivering me celebration or tribulation, I cover my eyes and declare my devotion, no matter what is in front of me. It is about unconditional devotion.

While we were discussing the topic that Sunday morning, Dr. Goldberg*, one of the surgeons, shared a most incredible story. One morning while driving to work he decided to take a route that he doesn’t normally drive. As he pulled up to a red light prior to entering onto the highway he looked out his window and noticed a motorcyclist stopped next to him. The motorcyclist was dressed in black from head to toe, riding a sleek black Italian motorcycle. The light then turned green and the motorcycle sped off.

Arterial blood was pouring from his thigh; he was bleeding to death.

Dr. Goldberg continued on the highway for a short stretch and suddenly saw the man in black on the Italian motorcycle grinding across the highway on its side with sparks shooting everywhere. The motorcyclist had lost control and was thrown from the bike. Dr. Goldberg quickly pulled over and ran to the man. He was lying on the ground, still wearing his black helmet, and missing one of his legs. Arterial blood was pouring from his thigh; he was bleeding to death.

“Another woman arrived at the scene and was assisting me in saving his life. I turned to her and realized it was one of the nurses from my hospital. She was running very late to work that morning and happened to pass by at the exact time of the accident.”

Dr. Goldberg realized that in another 60 seconds the man would bleed to death. He quickly placed his lab coat on the man’s artery and pressed with all his strength. As he was trying to prevent the bleeding, the man lifted his hand to his helmet and began slowly pulling it off.

“I had no idea what to expect when I saw him removing his helmet. I expected to hear groaning, cries or perhaps screaming. I was shocked and couldn’t believe my ears when I heard him saying the words, ‘Shema Yisrael Hashem Elokeinu Hashem Echad!’”

Dr. Goldberg managed to slow the bleeding until an emergency medical team arrived, who then rushed him to the nearest trauma hospital. He did not recognize the motorcyclist at the time, but as it turns out they attended the same synagogue.

On Rosh Hashanah of the following year there was a knock on Dr. Goldberg’s door. He opened the door and immediately recognized the face of the motorcyclist standing there with his children beside him. “I just wanted to thank you for saving my life.”

What's to answer? The surgeon went to school, studied and worked hard to obtain the skills which let him save the guys life. What does this have to do with god? God didn't save him, Goldberg did.

    What guided Goldberg? God.
"The idea that God exists and what God stands for in life...saved the guys life" is same as "God saved the guys life"

Nonsense. His parents had a lot more to do with his going to medical school than an imaginary magician in the sky.

It may serve as a great source of comfort for religious people to believe there is some eternal Person out there constantly caring about them. But God no sooner rescued this man than he committed heartless butchery not only of the Jews, but of countless innocents throughout the history of humans. Consider the parents of some child dying or leukemia at this moment, or the family on a church picnic when the bus - with its Praise placard the only thing recognizable - slides off a mountain road. The arbitrary way that harm befalls us does not correlate with the premise that there is any Protector at all.

I totally believe there is a creator, and he puts energy into the universe using stars, i.e suns. What the universe does with that energy is upto it. So that includes humans.

So i believe op is wrong 100%.

Its just that most people have no idea what i just wrote. I do think there is a god, and humans have always worshipped him through our connection with the sun.

I believe we access an energy with certain brain receptors, that links us into what we call evil, or that energy. Thats why humans are the only creatures we know of on earth that do what we think of as evil.

Science one day will be able to totally block out what humans consider to be evil, as its external to our brains and minds. We tune into it, and all acts of evil is done while the person is tuned into that, and there brain receptors are open to that energy.

So good and evil does exist, we call it light and dark, or yin and yan.

So all you people whom go on about this and that. Evil first came into humans at a certain time in our history, when these brain receptors started accessing that energy.

This is what the creation story of the bible means.

Science will one day totally understand what i just wrote, and shows you atheists are just as wrong as blind believers in multiple gods. Atheists are just as wrong, as any theist, they try and put down.

The reason why the science people whom know this do not tell you, as that the people in it do not want to confirm the creation week of the bible. What i wrote above confirms the creation week, that once we where just like animals, no evil, but at some given time in our past we opened up our brain receptors to an energy or something that tunes us into doing evil, or what we call evil.

These people whom know this, knows that the stuff i just wrote confirms the creation week of the bible, but to tell you lot would confirm what the bible says. They do not want religions confirmed.

You are trying to materialize a concept of God. However God is as having faith, both have no substance yet are powerful enough to influence the world itself through people. A belief in God influences people to act accordingly to such a belief to the point that God exists through their beliefs. God is an ideology that is passed through our actions as a whole in every aspect of our life. Denial of God is denial of our own selves.

So you just go merrily along making up your own definitions to fit your own preconceptions. No wonder you can't communicate.

I am surprised , there is no question , the part I see the so called coincident , and there are many . Goldberg was impressed by the biker , he put attention on it, observed the individual falling been injured , stopped , a nurse running late to work ( coincidental ) stopped to help.
For the people involved there is a God , and we are happy but for you wise men there is only probability.

So god can cause not only the coincidence of the doctor and nurse being there at the exact time, he can also give the doctor a premonition to, I guess, prepare him for the experience, but god can't just make the motorcyclist not lose control? And meanwhile people (even religious ones) are suffering the most horrible fates in various countries and god does nothing.

Coincidences happen all the time. In the meantime God could have saved a lot of people some trouble by not letting the guy get in an accident in the first place.

Furthermore, doctors probably treat motorcyclists all the time. So when he sees one, he probably envisions all the horrific accidents he has treated in the past. And they do crash all the time, and there are probably just a few routes to the hospital anyway. If when he is claiming is true (no way to verify it), it's still not much of a coincidence.
