Is it possible that the gravity that keeps our feet planted on the Earth is..

Objects in areas between the adjacent and opposite sides of the earth to the sun would be flung into more and more highly eccentric orbits as they get closer to sunrise and sunset positions, setting most objects on a collision coarse with the sun.

Sorry I answered without realizing that the earth's speed around the sun is upwards of 66,000 mph. The relatively slow speed of objects being flung off at sunset and sunrise positions would not collide with the sun. They would still be in relatively circular orbits, crossing back and forth across the earths orbit.

Ok. You're right that in principle, if the Earth was revolving around the sun quickly enough, people could stick to its sunward side due to centrifugal force alone. Given the Earth's actual revolution rate of 1-per-year, the centrifugal force due to its revolution about the sun is tiny - not even noticeable next to gravity. But there's a more fundamental problem. What happens when the Earth is pushing you away from the sun? At that point, the Earth is curving away from you, so you just fly off the surface that much faster. No amount of centrifugal force could keep people on the Earth at night.

The whole issue of rotation is a red herring. Just think about throwing an object straight up at the north pole during winter. It will fly up into space as the Earth slowly curves away from it. Rotation makes things harder to visualize, but doesn't change any of the fundamentals.

Centrifugal force due to the rotation of the Earth pushes you away from the surface, at a rate of about 0.003g at the equator and less as you go north/south. Centrifugal force due to the revolution of the Earth about the sun pulls you down during the day and lifts you up at night, but either way the effect is too small to care about. That leaves gravity to account for between 100% and 100.3% of falling back to Earth, depending on your latitude.

are you basing this on the Centrifugal force of the Earth's rotation?

What do you think they were using? A tire gauge?

They were using a Geiger counter?

No, you're ignoring how wrong you can be, and dismissing all evidence to the contrary, as you think it suits the game you're playing here.

Which is a meaningless nonsensical question, so move on to the real world and learn something for once in your science-forsaken life.

    That's not help - it's a hindrance. It's validation of your nonsense.

Actually that was your premise, that there is no gravity. But even under gravity a rocket just flies off into space, so what is your point?

Then stop thinking like that and move on. Learn.

I just won't pander to your pretense.

    Yes you are wrong.

Right. Stay stupid. When you decide to try to learn, it will be your turn to shut up and listen to your coaches. Who knows - maybe you'll catch on to what billvon just got you to understand.

In the mean time, go back and figure out how pressure fluctations and radiation (are you a Creationist?) have to do with the features you see on the gravity maps of the moon and Earth. Those are after all real features, are they not?

Not a creationist. You can leave the thread now. I have someone who is actually answering my questions without insults now.

Yes, and therefore objects at the poles would remain in the same orbit they were in before gravity ceased.

Ok, how is there centrifugal force now that there is no centripetal force?

There would be neither. All "orbits" would now be straight lines.

In other words, you admit to believing that they used a tire gauge and a Geiger counter, but you deny that God allowed that to actually work as a gravity sensor.

And you don't have any problem with that?

The sun's gravity still acts on the loose objects keeping them in orbit around the sun.

He's postulating that ALL gravity is just an illusion and it's all just inertia.

Right, but I'm wanting to determine where things would go if there were no gravity but the planets still moved the way they do. I want to separate the Newtonian mechanics from gravity and see what the difference is. You see what I mean?

I'm just throwing ideas out there. It's ok if they are wrong.

What would make them move the way they do? Things go in straight lines unless acted on by other forces. What would those other forces be?

It's not OK. You're telling me that NASA is a fraud, that their scientists are bozos. That's the big hole in your thread that can't fixed by anything other than frank admission of who you are / what you are, and what your game is.

Not really. Can you explain this a little further?

Einstein's most notable thought experiment lead to his equivalence principle, where he compared the force caused by Newton's gravitation to an inertial force. Are you trying to go beyond this and, if so, please explain.

You are just polluting the forum. Yet , again, you are just only one of the many cranks that have infested it.
