No more earthquakes, and the mousetrap hadn't been sprung. Anything at your end?

No god I praise, No god I praise, From birth to death I only praise the suns and winds and babies kissing gentle in my arms- kissing nights. Books and letters I praise and small fires that warm my cheeks and light the page. My hands are strong and always know how things go together. All these I praise.

Cozy rooms in many houses filled with laughter and good talk, these I praise. Fresh baked dripping honey and monumental strength to lift and carry from continent to continent and back again, I do praise. And sky and sea and sand and friends and friends and I praise round stones.

And oh, the magic gardens, burning their bright colors deep into my heart and turning my body into embers that will glow forever. No god I praise. 'Tis living puts me on my knees.

    Ya, me, too.

    Here's another favorite of mine.

    The Human Task

We have ceased to invoke the gods, who were human inventions, projections of our arrogance onto the universe, but treated as the crests of human conception rather than as delusions.

The human task is to conceive the universe without human projections, to diffuse our manias and recant our illusions, transcending our truncated personal images, to see the world in its own vast profile, discovering that image that includes all images in itself.

Nature designates everything, and we are but atoms in the whole, glints on one facet of the jewel of being.

We are meaty, indolent, and indefinable, less than pea-pods more than sequoias, equal to atoms.

We toil and muse for our seconds of eternity; we are nothing and we are all.

I sense the smugness she enjoys, for I can feel like that too, being human, but the whole system is running on empty. The bees are dying and there'll be no more honey, and fruit trees won't be pollinated. The fires and food and travel she admires all contribute to global warming, the extent of which we will never know. For this generation will be long gone.
She is living a dream but one day she will realise it is really the beginning of a nightmare.

How can such negativity be a favorite? I usually like the sensitivity in your poems but this one is poor, and yet you say it is a favorite! I'm disappointed in you Trooper.

alicia keys - distance and time (lyrics)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhgZK1Cy6GU

One Divided by Distance and Time.
    Robittybob1

I am within you and you within me,
When I shut my eyes it is you that I see.
Your voice sounds in my mind,
Like the sea trapped within a shell.

Where do I begin and where do you end?
Can two be divided by distance and time?
When the two of us become one alone,
Flesh of my flesh , the bone of my bone.

"What God has joined together let no man tear asunder."
"Which part of NO did you not understand?" The beginning and the end.

    A + B/(Time + Distance) = 1/(Time + Distance) = 1 Broken Heart.

    To Mary Jo

"Wonder Woman, Wonder Vet, Wander Vet."
(I don't want you to be just a memory.)

Chihuly could not perform nor make
So precious, so delicious, so delightful a shape.

I found you where you should not have been.
("You can do what you like with what you find at the rubbish dump.")

So I took you, loved you,
    and washed you clean,
It was not a simple task, our friendship,
Fragile with the tensions of untempered glass.

My god what have I done! Did to another,
    What I hate being done.

    Lord I am history,
    Cape Kidnappers fall on me,
    Bury me alive for Eternity.

Yet Peter on Jesus' command was a fisher of men,
Even in the waters of a pig pen.

He caught you sodden like a drowned rat,
But he didn't throw you back.
Then Jesus said, "take eat, do not condemn, what I have made clean".

The Holy Spirit formed an egg.
The Power of Love, it was too hot to handle.
But it had cooled by the time I had found and shown it to you.
Please forgive the weakness in me,
    for the Lord had forewarned,
    I was but a fool,
    And you Mary so wonderful.

    Robittybob1

Ran across this poem while looking online, for something unrelated...
    It really moved me.

    ''prayer of an agnostic''

    I tried so hard,
    to see your face
but when I needed you most
    you left my place

    I wanted a reason
    to carry on this plan
    but I was left alone
    with very little to understand

    I saw the miracles
    I heard the truth
    but was thrown in darkness
just casted out in my youth

when I needed to be sure
    no one could be found...
    even those close to me
    never even made a sound

It was all I could take
I couldn't stand much longer and be strong
even when the words I wanted came
they had sadly took to long

    I really was faithful
    standing by your side
but when I was standing in the darkness
why did EVERYONE run and hide?

    so this is my prayer
perhaps the last one to you.
Until I can be sure that what I once preached was true.

    I heard so many cries
help build others faith from the lowest stone
But how come when I was unsure
I was left to stand on my own

    I really am sorry.
but I just want to be fair
so I wont hold your name
until I know that I can care

    so good bye my king,
    my old savior and lord.
If we meet one more time
I hope to me your adored

    Fairy-Land

    Dim vales- and shadowy floods-
    And cloudy-looking woods,
    Whose forms we can't discover
For the tears that drip all over!
Huge moons there wax and wane-
    Again- again- again-
    Every moment of the night-
    Forever changing places-
And they put out the star-light
With the breath from their pale faces.
    About twelve by the moon-dial,
One more filmy than the rest
    (A kind which, upon trial,
They have found to be the best)
Comes down- still down- and down,
With its centre on the crown
    Of a mountain's eminence,
    While its wide circumference
    In easy drapery falls
    Over hamlets, over halls,
    Wherever they may be-
O'er the strange woods- o'er the sea-
    Over spirits on the wing-
    Over every drowsy thing-
    And buries them up quite
    In a labyrinth of light-
And then, how deep!- O, deep!
Is the passion of their sleep.
    In the morning they arise,
    And their moony covering
    Is soaring in the skies,
With the tempests as they toss,
    Like- almost anything-
    Or a yellow Albatross.
They use that moon no more
For the same end as before-
    Videlicet, a tent-
    Which I think extravagant:
    Its atomies, however,
    Into a shower dissever,
    Of which those butterflies
Of Earth, who seek the skies,
    And so come down again,
    (Never-contented things!)
    Have brought a specimen
    Upon their quivering wings.

both are good... but one post dates the other... somewhat... [chuckle]
I am sorry if I was taking too much of a liberty...
just..."the evolution of man from reflecting self to realization of self " comes to mind...

Aw! If this doesn't bring a smile to someone's face, nothing will.

    A simple haiku.......

    Life is what happens
    When we furiously plan
    Where does the time go?
