i've "lost" a few very important things to to me.
one of my parents, long time family pets, old flames, and cigarettes.
time has made a very serious dent in ALL of them.
on the other hand there is one thing i can think of that time doesn't heal, and that is hopelessness.
a person without hope is a sad sack for sure.

My reason is much the same as why I don't place small quantities of various flavours of jam between each my toes while singing an off-key rendition of Hey Jude. I can see no benefit in it.

life is short and death happens to us all soon enough, why rush it. Me personally, my own species stupidity is a good show and I'm going to watch it as long as I can.

One of the reasons I don't want to die is that I follow politics and current events ... and I want to see how everything turns out! No way would I want to leave before the 2016 presidential election. Hillary? Christie? Elizabeth Warren? Someone else? And after that there's the miderms in 2018 and another general election in 2020. Heck I want to see what happens in 2014. I want to see what happens tomorrow!

Is the US eventually going to attack Iran and cause a massive world war? Is the US economy going to collapse? Will Obamacare get repealed? Or get tweaked and straightened out and eventually turn into a popular program?

Not to mention math, science and technology. They solved Fermat's Last Theorem in my lifetime. Will they solve the Riemann hypothesis? P = NP? What's the future of computers, medicine, energy?

I can't imagine wanting to go before it's my time.

Like Woody Allen once said: "I don't want to achieve immortality through my work. I want to achieve it through not dying."

If you really knew where reality led to, you would be suprized and horrified. To maintain mental health, one should minimize their exposure to reality. Avoid reality.

Yes, I believe that HP Lovecraft was a brilliant cosmic horror writer. I very much enjoy his work. And there is a great old one made of dark matter standing right behind you.

    Don't turn around!!!

In the interest of saving lives, here is another good reason not to off yourself. The SimCity 5 expansion, cities of tomorrow, is coming out.

I'm only just getting used to the operating system on this biological system that transports me around and enables the integration of sensory experience in real time. I have not yet reached the limits of it's capabilities. There is still much to experience and learn and not enough time to answer all the questions for each answer begets several more questions.

In short...curiosity in need of satisfying is my reason for sticking around.

My best reason for not commiting suicide? Just Love and Faith. Only God is able to define the time I will die. Love because I can't leave those who loved and still love me, family, friends, relatives... they don't deserve such pain and it will be a crime. And at last but not the least, I just enjoy life, there are people who suffered and are still suffering with diseases, why commiting suicide? we are in good health, just relax and take it easy.

What you're referring to isn't treatment, it's an attempt to endure and repress depression, and then, preferrably, go on with life as usual (ie. continue the same mental and bodily practices that have brought on the depression to begin with).

Actually what I refereed to was the Mental Health FIRST AID for Depression and one of the things in that is get the person to professional help, professionals who will give the CBT that they need to change there thought processes to manage there depression so that if it comes back again it will be less server and they will feel more inpowered to manage it
