I want to be rich, very rich.
    What can I do?
Is it a bad desire to want to have a lot of money, maybe USD 100,000,000.

You have some random thinking like a derailed madman on an emotional roller coaster.
    I feel cesspool nigh.

Buy lottery tickets and try to win your wealth, but don't go broke doing it.

I want a unicorn. If you buy lottery tickets, you'll have better odds of getting what you want then me getting what I want.

I'd like to be rich...but not really for myself. It would be nice to a fairly large house in the country, with enough extra bedrooms to host my extended family...and I do like cars...so a few classic cars would be nice. However, I'd like to have more money than god, just to fund any crazy ideas I might come up with...like

Buying a Sikorsky CH-54 Tarhe helecopter and a bunch of cargo containers to deliver relief supplies to disaster areas quickly. Unlike other relief agencies, in addition to providing necessaries like food water and clothes, I'd bring cold beer and cigarettes....because if you lose your house, you should at least be able to have a cold beer and a smoke, if you need one.

...or make sure "my boys" The Texas Baptist Men have all the funding and supplies they need. (I'm an Atheist that wants to join them) They are a group of retired tradesmen that go around rebuilding people's houses after disasters.

Richness comes from many places. Money is but one there are many other ways to enrich yourself like reading as an example.

My wife and I laid down guidelines on what happens if we win the jackpot lotto, with various scenarios for how much we win.

Say we won like, 500 mil jackpot. After taxes, assuming lump sum and such, if we take home 200 mil... each of our close friends and family we'd go up to and tell them, one big thing, choose it and we will pay it off. It could be student loans, mortgage, car payment, etc. A quarter of it or so goes straight into a high yield savings account. A fair chunk goes to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital. Pay off our own student loans, buy a nice house, something that would be enough to start a family, and settle down. NOthing crazy or extravagant, but it would be so nice to know... to really know... that you dont' have to worry about living paycheck to paycheck anymore.

In the USA, where the cost of living is very high compared to most other countries, a family of four (husband, wife and two children) can live very nicely on $200,000 per year. By "very nicely," I mean:
    • The best private schools for the children
    • Four cars (two sedans, a sportscar and an SUV)
    • A large, fabulous house on a large lot in a beautiful location
    • The best seats at concerts and sporting events
    • Memorable vacations in the world's most attractive places
    • Et cetera.
You can live this way without having to work if you have enough money invested to pay $200K in interest or dividends every year. Interest rates are very low today, but you can still earn $200K per year by having less than $50 million in the bank. You don't need $1 billion to do that.

Since few of us will ever see $50M, the most practical way to live that way is to simply earn $200K per year. A lot more people have $200K salaries than have $50M in the bank!

Get a good education (a PhD in a practical subject like computer science, not something fun but impractical like history or literature), work hard, and invent some useful products, and you will eventually be making $200K.

If you're not planning on living in the USA or one of the expensive European countries, you won't need $200K per year to live that way. A lot of successful Americans emigrate to Mexico, where they can live that way for less than $100K, and they're still so close to home that they can visit their friends and family frequently--or invite them down to visit in Mexico.

If you want to stay in Malaysia, I'm sure you can live nicely for a lot less than $100K.

In any case, there are no instructions for amassing a fortune of $1B. There are only a few thousand people in the world who have done that, and each one of them worked very hard, but they were also very smart and very lucky. Your chance of being one of those lucky people is one in a million--if you are also very smart and work very hard.

So tell us, how much education do you have, and what kind of work do you do now? If you're more than 30 years old, it's probably too late. If you don't have a PhD, it's probably too late. If you don't have a job right now that teaches the skills that rich people use every day, it's probably too late. Even with luck, you'll never have $1B.

But if you take life seriously and work toward your goal, you might have a salary of $200K some day, and when you retire you may have $50M in the bank. That will be very nice.

I have never earned more than $100K in one year, and my life is still very nice. Having lots of money means also having lots of responsibilities and lots of risks. I like it better this way.

I'm going to try my hand in music. I've been playing guitar for six months and I know several chords. I have written a few songs that are radio worthy. Lyrics yet to be written. Wish me luck.

Good luck! I hatched a new guitar player yesterday. My nephew is visiting and I showed him "A" and "E"....He played for 4 hours last night, and has been at it all morning. This makes me happy.

Nobody that can determine interest off 50 million dollars as $200k should ever get that kind of money. Even in the weakest of economies you should be able to get at least 10 times that amount.

Even if you were the stupidest investor on the planet and could only get 1% on your money (normal bank rates are more than double this), you would still end up with at least a half million dollars per year.

Nice lookin' hele; but did you notice it doesn't have any where to put beer and cigarettes? That's ok, it would still be way cool to fly around in one.

Obviously you don't know anything about helios. That's a HUGE space for cargo right behind the cockpit and between the wheels.

The recipe really isn't that difficult. Get a good job and save 10 to 14 percent of your income and invest it in a good broad-based ETF like "SPY" and over time you will accumulate a lot of money. It's likely you can become a millionaire...maybe even a multimillionaire. As my grandfather used to say, it is not how much money you make, but how much you keep that matters.
