    Doubling down on the stupid..

Fanning the controversy that has been batted around cable news this holiday season, Bill O’Reilly agreed with Fox News’ Megyn Kelly that Santa Claus is, in fact, white.

Citing a the "historical truth" of Santa, O’Reilly concluded "Ms. Kelly is correct. Santa was a white person."

"Historical truth" about a fictional and fantasy character.

To whom is this retard appealing to?

Do Fox News viewers believe in Santa?

When you begin a question with "Do fox new viewers..." the answer is probably stupider then you expected.

I love that series, just finished the final book. Jean Auel studied stone age life to the extent that she spent an entire winter by herself in a cave in Alaska. Nonetheless, she didn't really go out of her way to convince us that their standards of cleanliness and housekeeping were anywhere close to ours.

Heck, right up to the end of the 19th century, most non-aristocratic people lived pretty close to what we would today call "squalor." Their sewers were open to the air, they had no supply of fresh water, their food was not wrapped, and in the big cities before the invention of the automobile, the streets were shin-deep in horse manure.

So washing was not as common as you'd think. They just got used to dirt.

For all intents and purposes, the modern Santa Claus was an invention of the Coca-Cola company. He was completely deconstructed and rebuilt for a Christmastime advertising campaign during the Great Depression.

He was fat, implying that prosperity was within reach. He rode in a sleigh pulled by flying reindeer, implying that fantasy could become reality if everyone would just wish hard enough. He was bringing Christmas presents to every home, implying that the population had better go shopping--not altogether a bad tactic, since no one really understood depressions so perhaps it was possible to prime the pump by simply spending our way out of it.

Most importantly, he was always shown with a bottle of Coke in one hand. All of the above explanations notwithstanding, his primary job was to encourage Americans to buy ice-cold soft drinks in wintertime!

We all love this modern Santa. It's been noted that the two most ubiquitous and most recognizable symbols of Christianity in America are Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.

    Works for me.

Sorry, Fraggle Rocker, but no, "we" do not "all love this modern Santa"!
Simply because, to use your phrase, "for all intents and purposes", the modern Santa Claus is a fictional creation designed to delude the gullible, brain washable and easily controllable sector of the populace.
Ergo: is it not only fitting that you would state?

It" s doesn't matter is black or white, then to believe in our wishes and to try to complete it. I"m so happy that the new year is coming and love and health are only important.

The uproar is connected to revisionist history, where liberal leaders lie about the past, to help delude their increasingly clueless liberal base. The liberal base is not taught to be self reliant, but rather they are taught to be takers. If they were self reliant they would develop their own traditions. But as takers, they assume the Santa Claus is like taking another handout they are entitled to, using race and guilt cards. But Santa Claus is not something the liberal government can steal and redistribute based on revisionist history and retroactive guilt. The template s getting old.

Aside from the comical spectacle of self-described Christians getting bent out of shape over somebody's take on Santa Claus, the major discussion point here is this:
We have on good authority (eyewitness accounts of direct comparison by all parties involved) that the standards of cleanliness maintained by various stone age North American tribal folks were noticeably higher than those of the more "advanced" Europeans who first met them. Their clothes were cleaner, their bodies much more frequently bathed, their campsites and domiciles considerably less squalid, and their appearance less marred with zits and rashes and other skin reactions to filth.

Similar comparisons were standard on all continents, with the Chinese and Japanese and Indonesians and Mongols and Polynesians and so forth, and except possibly some regions of Africa among the cattle herding nomads, and the Arctic dwellers in winter.

To be fair, the Europeans themselves had once upon a time been a cleaner people - the association of public bathhouses and saunas, and in time bathing itself, with immorality and epidemic disease, was a creation of the medieval Christian Church.
