    Kwhilborn here again...

It is funny this is now discussing religion instead of the moderator. Are you all afraid to discuss it there.. lol (Meaning laugh out loud).

I thought it was a tad rude that a moderator listed my reason for permaban was because I "attempted to evade ban via sockpuppet"

Actually.. I did not ATTEMPT to evade ban. I actually evaded it (like now).

    NOT THE POINT.

The point is that I quit sciforums. I stated this both in this religion thread and at the start of the new LENR thread. I ASKED JAMES R FOR A PERMANENT BAN.

I quit because I did not like Syne as a Moderator. I quit in protest.

After over a dozen years as an active contributor to the website the reasoning for my leaving is tainted the way kittamaru said it. I ASKED IN WRITING FOR A PERMABAN.

It was not like the moderator in question was some super sleuth who finally caught a supervillain. James R asked a question here and I knew the consequences and also asked for a Permaban

As someone who worked for Geeksquad kittamaru should know how easy it is to reroute IP's or evade bans if I chose to, but I really do wish to leave.

I quit out of protest and it should reflect that in the ban list, BUT IT DOES NOT, SO I WILL ADDRESS THIS MYSELF.

You are telling people I was permabanned for creating a sockpuppet, when in fact I had quit. It is like quitting a job and then them you saying "you can't quit, because I fired you."

    It is not accurate...

This sucks, because I was really looking forward to stalking and terrorizing kwhilborn all over the forums once Rossi is finally exposed as a fraudster. I guess I am going to have to find some other wholesome activity to pour myself into when the time comes.

Mark IV sockpuppet incoming in 3,2,1...

What’s wrong with Christians who don’t believe in the Bible? As for me, I’m the complete opposite: I’m an atheist who goes to church on Sundays.

    You weren't banned by JamesR.
    You were banned by Kittamaru.
(who is not a girl, though you probably knew that)

If you wanted to be permanently banned, you wouldn't be coming back.
Wrong again, just as with LENR.

I know you're joking, but I don't really talk to many christians about their faith so I wasn't aware that there was a loose definition related to upbringing and culture rather than specific adherence to church teachings. You learn something everyday. Maybe they should call thmeselves christian-lite.

I would feel uncomfortable going to church, since the choice would be to mutter words you don't believe in or sit at the back and refuse to participate. I suppose if you have to do it for social reasons then you manage somehow. Again, if you are serious.

It's more like the difference between Christian fundamentalism and liberal or progressive Christianity. I'd just call it freestyle theism, which in this case just happens to be strongly influenced by exposure to Christian theology. All other things being equal, the main influence could just as easily have been something else.

That's a good description. I suppose it means that they can believe in some kind of god but accept modern social norms, so they don't have to hate gay people or subjugate women, or do the stuff that I'm accumulating on my thread in Comparative Religion. Sounds OK to me.

every mod here has been ragged on at one time or another, some still are, most know how much geoff loves bells.
to quit the forum over something like this is . . . at your own discretion.
you also knew that creating socks to post on the board could have permabanned you.

    syne,
it's all constructive criticism, the above poster just exploded.
getting his panties all up his craw like this is ridiculous.

    Returned.. Like a bad smell.

Just like yada means you're a dumb ass.

Well the point is that you are banned again.

If it keeps up, we'll just prevent you from even opening an account on here and by the time I'm through with you, your ISP will be listed as a spammer site.

But you are still here. You won't leave.

    But you keep returning.

We don't really like long and drawn out goodbyes. Just go already.

So why are you still here?

You were given a permaban. Repeatedly.

You seem to be trying to convince yourself more than anyone else. I'll give you a hint. No one cares. Just go already.

See, normally when someone asks for a permaban, they don't keep coming back and asking for more.

    a) It's the "ModSquad".

    b) Then leave already! My God. You are like the new Reiku.

At this rate I am about to change your note on the ban list to say "Is a retard".

Well thus far this is what? Sockpuppet number 3? 4?

You had created a sockpuppet, which saw you permabanned. Then you created more, which were also permabanned. So you are living up to the ban note!

    You have made it accurate.

    Good job.

    Now go away. Shooo..

Moderators mustn't behave like trolls. They need remain among the grown-ups in the room.

When moderators turn into trolls, they lose any moral authority that they might have had when they condemn trollish behavior in others. The whole thing starts to devolve into 'I've got the power to ban people and you don't, so kiss my ass'.

Why do we get this putrid nonsense all over this thread - and the board come to that. For goodness sake, ban this Glimview idiot.

Ideally, to insure a clear-headed and dispassionate neutrality, they shouldn't enter into discussions at all except when fulfilling the duties of a moderator. But that's not possible when mods have to volunteer or be recruited from among the members themselves. I.E., nobody wants to give-up the original reasons they joined a forum just because they acquired a patrol role later on.

I'm sure that many people who go to church lack faith.
That's one of the reasons people go to church.
Not sure why an atheist would go.
Maybe for the tea and cakes afterwards.

    Shoo..?
This permabanning doesn't work very well does it?

That could be so, trying to re-affirm their faith.
Tea and cakes wouldn't do it for me, but I suppose social pressures might, say if your family or your spouse's family were that way inclined. It would be difficult though.

Some of them do (and a few lesser clergy people have even reported being such if interviewed behind a shadow with electronic voice modification). But I'd be surprised to seen a full-fledged anti-theist in a church. Where there's an active ideology or agenda underlying it rather than an informal: "Nah, thanks, but I just don't care about beef and the fast-food joints." Or long-deceased Jerry Garcia's "I'm still riding the momentum of my background culture, I have Catholic family and relatives and friends and colleagues to interact with."

To set the record straight... the permanent ban was a direct result of the use of sock puppets, simple as that. If he wished to quit "in protest"... then she should have done so, messaged a mod and/or admin, and just left... *shrugs*

Unfortunately, banning by GUID isn't something we can do

Though it would be fun to see some of our more... desperate... ban evaders replacing system components just to evade a ban XD

Don’t you know? There’s even a whole church started up and run by atheists.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-21319945

It’s not only theists who have the right to freedom of worship – atheists are just as much entitled to it, you know.
