I just had a dream in which i saw weird thing. There are news since the last two decades about gun laws in america, as mainly many people resort to killings, school massacres, standoffs....etc. But i think as my dream suggested me that what if the guns available for sale in america are non-lethal weapons. The gun shops in america might be comprising of two types of weapons, the real military grade and the other non-lethal weapons which are available for general public. As these weapons are very funny and like movie like fake weapons. Intelligently created, with looks very real like as if real military grade. M-16, hk rifle, pistols....whose mechanism fires small pellets in rapid succession. They are non-combustible, short range and creates lesser noise n' pollution. Unlike the real weapons bullets which has gas operated recoil spring mechanism and it could real shrad a ligament even crack a bone or even pierce away skins to pieces. Whereas the fake weapons america builts duplicates just subdues or incapicitated the person to whom it is fired upon. So i think the hue and cry in the news and magazines seems really unecessary and gun laws amendments is a big joke.
I was thinking what could be the mechanism underlying the making operating of fake pellet weapons. Like the magazine spring pushing the pellets under pressure into the chamber. And the operating trigger spring mechanism making the pellets fly under considerable speed and accuracy direction.
But perhaps this fake pellets guns are carried by military personals in war time to save bullets, carry more pellets and to subdue civilians.

The bean bag round consists of a small fabric “pillow” filled with #9 lead shot weighing about 40 grams (1.4 oz). It is fired from a normal 12-gauge shotgun. When fired, the bag is expelled at around 70 to 90 metres per second (230 to 300 ft/s); it spreads out in flight and distributes its impact over about 6 square centimetres (1 sq in) of the target. It is designed to deliver a blow that will cause minimum long-term trauma and no penetration but will result in a muscle spasm or other reaction to briefly render a violent suspect immobile.

The shotgun round is inaccurate over about 6 metres (20 ft) and has a maximum range of around 20 metres (70 ft). Changes to the bean bag round since its inception in the early 1970s have included a velocity reduction from 120 to 90 metres per second (400 to 300 ft/s) as well as a shift from a square shape to a more rounded sock-shaped projectile.

Shotguns dedicated to being used for bean bag rounds are often visibly modified with either yellow or green markings, or bright orange stocks and stops, to reduce the possibility that a user might inadvertently load lethal munitions into the weapon.

    hmmm

Can a gun fire successive pellets toward a combat target at about 150 meters accurately, can a mechanical device of ricocheting spring movement ?

If you mean bullets propelled with gunpowder fired in full automatic, then short answer: No
Many variables factor in to that, including the weight of the projectile, the amount of propellant, the weight of the weapon, etc...and the shooter.

But people who built armoured tanks and aeroplanes, they could easily make a compact mechanical operating ricocheting motion spring chamber, no propellant needed, the pellets should reach affectively to range 150 meter is enough for urban and even war combat...like thompson gun range was just 20 meter and shotgun just 6-10 meter...carbine m-16, sniper range from 800meters to 2000meters....

If we all just learned respect, the snakes would show and all the gun crimes will turn into a snake drive.

    *alarm bells go off*

Conventional weapons use some of the energy from the propellant to load the next round. You can't get energy out (for reloading) that you didn't put in.

No guns are dangerous, unless you know better. People can be harmful with or without guns, but without them we are certainly naked so to speak.

You can potentially store previously exerted lost energy from one firing instance for the next instance, but that's more about synergy.

When the OP referred to pelts, was he referring to Airsofting?
