What happens if you teleport into a solid object?

Teleportation of macroscopic objects is still within the realm of sci-fi.

However, if I somehow manage to teleport my flesh and bone body into a solid object such as wall, what is expected to occur?

Imagine that the atoms of my body suddenly emerge out of nowhere and occupy the same space as the atoms of a brick wall.

Will we merge to form a material with a density that is the sum of our densities? Will the wall shatter into subatomic pieces? Will I be "stuck" in the wall, or will my hands and legs (the parts sticking out) be severed and slide down the surface of the wall?

you can not teleport into an occupied space or the space within that occupied space.
the space that will be teleported to has to have the capacity of the the telepported entity.

Depends how you do it. For example, with quantum teleportation, you have to have the 'raw material' already there to transform into the original object, so the issue cannot occur. With a wormhole, you would have to physically push the material out of the way, and so it would be little different than trying to walk into a wall.

But if somehow you could just magically appear, then there would be a large release of energy as some nuclei fused (due to two light nuclei appearing very close to each other) some split (less likely) and most electrons/nuclei just moved back into their lower-energy configurations.

The answer would be in the technical details of the teleporter (or "transporter" from Star Trek), and have to be consistent regardless of where you teleported. "Pure vacuum" is close to a practical impossibility, so unless Captain Kirk was being fused with the volume of his own body's worth of air each time he transported then the location being transported to had better first have that material completely removed first. Perhaps there would be a simple swapping of matter between the transporters? For example, if you were to transport into a pool of water then a glob of water shaped as your body would be transported to your point of origination.

    Doesn't really answer your question...

You could get something inside the teleporter and end up like this........

Sure it does. There'd be a person-shaped chunk of stone (or whatever), and the poor unfortunate would find himself quickly smothering inside a snug-fitting rock suit.

Not to mention that the teleportation chamber would get all wet with water from the pool.

    Haha

To answer billvon, I'm thinking not of QM or GR, but when the atoms just pop out of thin air.

So apparently it will have the same effect as an atomic bomb?

In one of Douglas Adams' novels there were star ship raiders who had their ship transport at an odd angle into the ship they were raiding so the walls ceilings and floors intersected one another in many bizarre ways. Not only did this throw their victims off balance, it made for easy transportation of the loot. Adams described it as being like when two combs are inter-meshed.

As mentioned by me in some other Thread (Not an exact quote)
Note that teleportaion of a living creature has some fierce problems relating to data collection, storage, & real time reconstruction requirements. In particular, construction of the brain must be accomplished in less than a few milliseconds (perhaps it must be reconstructed in less than a few hundred nanoseconds). A partially reconstructed brain would perform some functions, resulting in an imperfect reconstruction.

BTW: Quantum teleportation does not transport anything material. It seems to teleport information & it seems questionable that it even transports that.

Your answer happens in nature within some certain tornados. Embedding matter within other matter is a natural phenomena. Take a straw stem embedded in a glass window frame, neither of the items damage in any way. Or a 2-by-4 embedded within a steel I-beam, with either item damaged. One of the items was de-materialized by some force and when re-materialization occurred they occupied the same space. It cannot ever be undone, because the two items become one, no way could one ever de-materialize just part of an object. It is similar to cut n paste in your technology, one cannot cut just half of a picture, or half of an alpha symbol (character A). Unfortunately there is no undo feature!

Fortunately this natural phenomena opens the door to real teleportation too. If the object is moving when de-materialization happens, its information (so to speak) keeps moving down that heading and if the right technology is at the destination, it intercepts the information and re-materializes it. The key being the space at the destination should be free of any matter, as noted above.

It should be noted the phenomena in tornados and in cut n paste is not decoding any objects, neither will real teleportation. Real teleportation has all the information already, all that is required is to change that information's destination and that is done instantaneously (or almost) no matter what the distance. No Sci Fi and no scientific laws violated, it is not a physics solution, nor uses entanglement. I have applied for a patent for this application. Note all objects, including humans!

The patent title is Low Energy Technology for Real Teleportation. Like I said I applied for one, it has not been granted yet - est. October 2016
I have a website for the project bmeupteleport.com

While you're at it, why don't you try and patent a perpetual energy machine too? You'll make billions!

Let's entertain this stupidity for a moment.

If the troll/crank has a valid, patentable design and can produce a prototype, (unlike Carlo Rossi, unless he's using your fantasy to teleport energy into his fantasy), you'd have no need for a patent: You could mine all the gold in the planet, or siphon off solar plasma to power turbines here. You'd be fabulously wealthy without ever sharing the awesome details of your invention!

You might be a dumbshit, or you might be deluded, or you might even really be stupid. Nobody here will put up with it for long.
