This is the second alleged footage I've seen of a car disappearing on the road. Seems like a new phenomena. Is it a hoax? Maybe, but on the off chance that it's real, it's definitely worth noting...

Looks to me like the first video has been edited. I didn't bother watching the second one.

What do you think is the most likely explanation here, Magical Realist?

Are you the only one who has something to say about this?

What seems more likely to you: that somebody faked a video, or that cars can just disappear in flashes of light?

Yeah, I know that you believe in everything woo.

You have no idea if cars can disappear or not. The only way you'd be able to know they can't is if you have personally viewed every car that ever existed from the moment it was made until it reached the scrap yard. And I doubt that you have. You need to carefully take stock of the things you REALLY know vice the things you don't know.

Excuse me, are you the same Magical Realist that wrote this? So you used to understand statistical analysis, and now you don't? I'd call this cherry-picking but it's more like you torched the whole orchard.
I hate that it's come to this, but it has because of people like you, Horatio. If there is a Shakespeare quote that makes me want to groan in pain and smack my head on the desk it's this one. To be fair to Hamlet, when Shakespeare had him say this I don't think he meant doctored woo vids.

That's not how it works. If you know the truth and have decided not to tell, then don't. That means that what you say in this thread is untrue, because you already said that you've decided to never ever tell the truth.

So you recommend that the thread be closed because you decided to never ever tell the truth???

    What???!!!

Of course I have an idea if cars can disappear or not. The answer is: they can't. You can crush a car, or smash it up, or blow it up, or drop it down a hole, or throw it off a cliff, but you can't disappear it. That would be a breach of the laws of physics.

Do you think cars can simply disappear off roads? Really?

Or are you going to give me a lame "I don't know. My mind is so open, I'm willing to believe just about anything is possible."?

Nonsense. No material object can simply disappear without trace. Such an event would be contrary to the laws of physics, as I have already mentioned. It's also contrary to everyday experience (not that that is necessarily a reliable measure of unusual occurrences).

I think it's not unreasonable to generalise that if nobody has seen a car disappear in 100 years since the invention of the car, then probably cars don't disappear. And if cars did disappear every now and then, you'd think that such a thing would be documented unequivocally at least once, wouldn't you?

I mean, if you believe in magic then everything you see must be a wonder to you. Wow! Toast cooking in a toaster. Who knew it would do that when I put it in? I haven't observed every toaster in existence, so how could I possibly know that this toaster wouldn't freeze my slice of bread, or turn it into a cucumber, or launch it into orbit?

I'm betting I have a better idea about the things I don't know about than you have about the things you don't know about.

I think you need to take stock of the fact that most of the stuff you keep posting here is either fake or else it has a perfectly mundane explanation.

    Like what?

If you were beaten over the head with sarcasm, would you know it? Or would you just continue in your clueless slumbering?

Okay. I have something in mind. You don't know about that something and neither does MR.

You claim you have a better idea about that something (which you know nothing about) than MR does.

Go for it! Both of you. Tell me what that unknowing something is that I have in mind.
