No people in the USA met Jesus, what is your point?

Jesus knew that the spirit of the anti-Christ would sway people away from him, such as yourself. He knew any historical record of himself would be scarce hence this:

    John 20:29
29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

I guess you have changed a bit in the last 10 years, I think you were a gnostic?

This is like saying that Jonathan Kent's genealogy tells us something about Superman.

I mean, to them, it would not matter if he were real, they don't know the real Jesus, only the legend.

It makes no difference to me if a book includes, along with a bunch of crazy beliefs, a statement that some people won't believe. Do you think that's profound or something?

I'm not a gnostic, but I think the Gnostic Gospels have some interesting content from a philosophical perspective, in particular the Gospel of Thomas. Look, I'm not saying that there can't be true statements in the Bible about how people should behave towards each other, but the book as a whole is full of good and bad, and it certainly isn't literally true, I don't think it was even intended that way, or even necessarily accepted that way by earlier generations of Christians.

The only spirit that is influencing me is the spirit of evidence based knowledge as opposed to irrational faith. This notion of an anti-Christ is an insidious poison that only helps to brainwash people into denying their inherent ability to reason.

Jesus never said that you need to believe in him for eternal life, he simply stated that believers would be blessed, and we are, we have hope. Ill go post the scripture again, because it is important and is evidence as to the times we live there would be unbelievers where skeptics will question,, who I still respect, but this scripture proves 'jesus was more than a man, he was a prophet amongst other things.

    John 20:29
29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

OOooooo, I want to be considered blessed too! Don't leave me out of your precious club!

Seriously, this is why I can't stand religion. This passage in particular has been the basis for making people stupid for millennia. Faith is belief in things without evidence, or in light on contrary evidence. It's basically ignorance twisted into a moral value.

The human mind is complex, and I guess some people adopted the complete rejection of God. I was at a friends place on Tuesday and I just checked if he was agnostic/atheist, he went ballistic, eventually culminating to an passionate with hatred to wards God, hence his position. I put that down to bad experience, which I totally get, my brother is agnostic but thinks he's atheist, and he can't be arsed to find out because only weirdos like us use sites like this.

I'm not opposed to believing in God, if there were sufficient evidence to do so. That would be rational. I can't hate something that doesn't exist. But religion exists, and I can hate that. It makes otherwise good people do evil things. I don't hate religious people, either. They are just deluded.

I've always been an agnostic, so I never had to reject the notion of God. But I did become an atheist in addition, since I read some compelling arguments about why God doesn't exist.

There is a place in heaven for you, because basically you seem like a human being.

Then my morality is superior to yours, since I would never advocate torturing anyone for eternity.

I didn't say "eternally" just a bit to get rid of your sins, in my spiritual form you could become one of my buddies.

    Winning!

Why do you believe you are going to heaven?

You are offensive (telling people they seem like a human being), you pass judgement on people as though you believe you are God, you are presumptuous and so vain as to believe you are morally superior to everyone (such as your comments about people burning to remove their sins, etc), not to mention your belief that you are going to heaven. In short, you judged yourself worthy, while deeming everyone else unworthy.

My belief in going to heaven is my belief, a strong belief based on Faith and subjective experiences. I said that to spider goat because i believe we all go to heaven, is that any different to him or you telling me we end up as dust?

Don't worry I would be very much burnt, probably more than spider goat, thank God for sparing me, no one else(no one else deserves the credit but God). I have more inferior thoughts towards myself much more then towards any other individual.

    EDIT:

    Rewording and additions.

I sometimes think that's the whole point of religion. When was the last time you heard a believer say that they reluctantly followed the Bible's teaching against this or that? No, they are enthusiastic about it, as if they believed specifically to indulge their own prejudices.
