Brian Greene is going to let you in on a secret: We've all been deceived. Our perceptions of time and space have led us astray. Much of what we thought we knew about our universe—that the past has already happened and the future is yet to be, that space is just an empty void, that our universe is the only universe that exists—just might be wrong.

Video is not working for me. I do like Brian Greene, and I plan on watching.

Yep, he's good, he reminds me of Michio Kaku in a lot of ways.
I prefer Brian Cox and Neil De-Grasse Tyson as the closest to Carl Sagan whom was exceptional in every way.

Carl Sagan if I remember right , was a open minded about some subjects

Sure he was...Just as most mainstream cosmologists are.

But not so open-minded that their brains fall out. Some people seem to think that the more open-minded a person is the more virtuous they somehow are, but in the context of legitimate scientific pursuit it is also virtuous to stringently uphold rational principles of investigation just as it is clear that Carl Sagan did, and his past and present peers do.

Of course they also tend to be rational enough not to prematurely dismiss anything.

    Couldn't agree more.
If you are not familiar with river, he is at your first analogy...Mind so far open, his brains have fallen out. He champions Plasma/Electric Universe, UFOs of Alien origin, Giants, ghosts, goblins, you name it!

This is bad, and I don't buy any of it. The three theories discussed (string theory with its rolled up dimensions, Guth's theory of cosmic inflation, and the multiverse theory) do not 'converge' or join, or even marginally support each other at all. Of the three, only Guth's has anything going for it by way of observational confirmation, and even that idea is shakier than this production would have us believe. Greene used the Anthropic principle to argue for the value of dark energy, and this is another method typically used by string theorists to adjust 20 or so parameters so that the universe we see is "just so". There is no (or very little) science in any of this.

Greene should have stopped with his work in "The Last Mimsy".

OMG, I just realized; string entanglement strongly suggests the existence of kite-eating trees!
