Brings back my point from several ago. One of the Mexican words for vulture is limpiamundo, world-cleaner.

Always seemed like a good way to give back, y'know?

why not do it yourself? At the very least, you should devote your last energy to being free...

Muslims do that, let go of the dead in the sea.

And get paid well for doing so, plus up to 6 friends get a brief ocean voyage!

Why not be cremated and then thrown into the sea? Seems it would be a better way and save money to.

A friend had her mother cremated and it cost $3,000. I'm not sure what it costs to have the ashes dumped into the sea, but it's probably a lot more than either of us would guess. I wouldn't be surprised if the boat has to go out beyond the 15-mile limit.

If you live in a rural area with a seashore, you might be able to go out in the middle of the night and dump them into the tide. But if somebody spots you, you could be in big trouble.

Where do you live? Where I'm from cremation only costs less than 300.00. Then all you need to do is drive down to the ocean and dump the ashes into the water.

The Baltimore suburbs. My friend lives in Fairfax, a Virginia suburb of Washington DC.
Everything costs more, the closer you get to Washington. And I'm sure that if you tossed ashes into the Atlantic from the Eastern Shore, which is very developed so there's probably not a square yard where you could stand without being seen by ten people, you'd probably be arrested for littering, or something like that.

My ex had her mother cremated in California and it cost several thousand dollars.

More specifically where? As gradute student I lived several places with in walking distance of JHU and near the end, out in the Green Spring Valley (for free - as cut the grass, trimmed bushes, etc. of a small old estate) It had a "Carrage House" for three with small apartment as 2nd floor.

Life has many ironies: One or two years my apartment was just North of the stadium the "Baltimore Colts" played in. I had, and still do, zero interest in spectator sports. - Like to swim, bike, etc. instead of watch others get exercise, but now at my age it is mainly 20+ minutes of brisk walking with some jogging each day. The stadium had planted pine trees to prevent people from watching games on the North side of the fence for free. Two adjacent ones had died, leaving quite a clear view of the field from my 2nd floor windows. - My apartment usually had 5 or 6 friends viewing the games, but not me - I went to the library for some quiet to study when the Colts played at home.

They have a cremation business that will cremate you then throw your ashes into the ocean so I don't think that there's any violation of laws if they can do it. It is called the Neptune society. Again if you pay more than 300.00 for cremation you should think about flying the body to Florida and have it cremated here then have them send the ashes back to you. The cheapest one way fare is about 200.00 so that the body could be shipped and cremated and you could save thousands of dollars.
