Why do most people find science boring?

As a respected scientist and physics professor who had published in mainstream journals, he was treated pretty well.

Just to expand a bit on the wrongness of the crackpot cult of Einstein, here's a link with some details of that time in his life:
    http://www.einstein-website.de/z_biography/biography.html

Briefly, Einstein was working at the patent office while a phd student and received his phd just months before his paper on Special Relativity was published in 1905. But he published his first paper shortly after completing his undergrad and had around half a dozen published before SR. He wasn't yet a professor when he published his paper on SR (it actually took 2.5 more years) to find a job as a professor, but he was a published, mainstream physicist. His troubles with finding a job probably had to do with him not getting great grades as an undergrad and moving from Germany to Switzerland.

Well I'd say, in general, people don't enjoy what they don't understand. Scientific research and concepts are not easily grasped, and true attention and mind dedication is needed to learn new concepts in such a field. As a result of it's difficulty, many individuals choose to spend time watching more easily understood programs, such as those hillbilly shows, and as a result, miss out on the interesting-but difficult to understand- science behind the world around them. If enjoyment is what the average person seeks, then they will find the easiest method to retrieve it, hence watching noneducational television for pleasure. It all comes down to effort and persistence, based on if an individual is willing to work harder for the reward.

    I see your point

But disagree , not entirely ......but

Science tends to by dictatorial , for the most part , in being open minded enough , to think outside the box

Hence this " work harder for the reward " is really the problem . Understand what I mean .......

Any evidence for that, or are you again, just blowing your "anti mainstream" trumpet that we all know so well.

Anybody have a problem with my stance ?

to be clear , its not so much about " mainstream " as it is the thinking of the mainstream

Any normal thinking person would have a problem against your stance, as just an exercise in anti mainstream stance for the sake of it. You have never yet had any rhyme nor reason nor substance.

Could you please clarify...perhaps by rewriting that as a complete and grammatically correct sentence...? It sounds like you are saying science is dictatorial, yet open-minded, which sounds self contradictory. Who is dictating what to whom?

Obviously scientists must be open minded and think outside the box, otherwise they'd never discover anything new! So I don't see how that can be the product of any kind of dictatorship.

No problems with it. Also not much evidence for it.

It's more than that. This is an instance of someone using a computer and the internet to...not only diss science...but also question why we should study the electron.

The first part is common these days, but the second part is rare in a special way.

I feel the same way. It's not just discovery channel. History Channel promotes bullshit and real science at the same time. Ancient Aliens in the morning and Bible Debunking in the afternoon + pawn shops + auctions.

I quit watching the damned thing. It's just there to make people stupider.

There was promise in the medium years ago, but it went the way of Rome...

The Visigoths sacked a skeleton when they came. The true Rome was in Constantinople by then, if you remember your history..

I can't remember if I locked my front door or not. And I just took the trash out less than an hour ago. There's your sign.

Depends on where you live. When I'm in town, I lock up. When I'm out at our country place, I keep alert for animals more than people. Way less trouble and better sleep...

I live in Los Angeles... The door should always be locked.
I had to check it, just after my last post. What a drag it is getting old...
