To all of you with a smart phone, if you haven't already installed the Facebook & Messenger apps on your phone I would recommend that you do so ASAP. Facebook is so much more enjoyable on the smart phone than it ever was on the PC. Also You should download the enhanced Messenger app. If you see more than one, it's the one with the bright blue logo and a small horizontal lightning bolt on it.

I never post anything that will come back to haunt me, and I've made some very good new online friends, and like the forum they can and are anywhere in the world that has Internet access.

Does facebook recognize your user name? Or your ip address?

A bit old a question, Facebook tends to keep a username, email address and phone number for identifying you. IP addresses are likely stored for a duration. I'm not sure how long they keep them, normally companies only keep them long enough to comply with any legal requests (since keeping such information is pointless unless someone has committed an offence or attack) There is no standardised practice for log keeping or law in relationship for how long logs should be kept. (at least that's true for most of the world)

If you quit using Facebook perhaps you might care to share reasons?
