I read the article and I agree with the health professional that said it was delusions/hallucinations. I feel sorry for the poor woman and I hope that these delusions and hallucinations are temporary.

MR should be here soon and you will most likely find that he supports you. If you add in that she was married to bigfoot or got here from the parallel universe via aliens in an UFO, you will get even more support.

Of course not. One look at the website it comes from is enough to dismiss it out of hand.

Alexander, you have to realise that we all apply filters in our daily lives when deciding what is worth spending time on and what can be peremptorily dismissed. If we did not, we would be doomed to spend all our days listening attentively to the ravings of every nutter on the street corner. So, when somebody makes a bizarre claim, most of us quickly check the source to see if it is one we trust, or one that looks as though it makes a dubious living from churning out this sort of stuff. In this case, the source was obviously in the latter category.

If you were to come up with a story like this from, say, the New York Times, or Scientific American, then I would at least read it.

But no scientist is morally obliged to take seriously every silly story on the internet.

For one thing, they are just stories. I would be interested to hear about the man from the country that didn't exist. What was the name of the country for instance? Could they tell us things that would be unlikely to be just a story or mental illness? It's far, far more likely that they are mentally ill or suffering from some rare delusion than that they came from a parallel universe. There are people who are otherwise sane, but feel that they are deceased or don't recognize close friends and family.

Many media sources make their own dubious living churning out science news and international news. Should we dismiss them for the same reason? Why is making money on the internet a defacto reason to dismiss the source's veracity.

That's kind of strange; I got an alert that MR quoted a post of mine but he didn't. Maybe he deleted the post...

    Hi exchemist,
    Are You here?
I still didn't get links from the guy on Skeptic Forum, but here is what he wrote in personal reply to me:

    "No, this is for real..
    things keep changing...
    I learned how to jump
I think I shifted between timelines yesterday ... a tree popped up in front of my house that wasn't there before..and my friend from school said he doesn't remember me anymore ...
I noticed weird things in my life this past year like memories I am sure happened but no one else remembers them
I have a lot of memories of things that didn't happen when I was a child
people have pictures of things I was sure didn't happen ( I don't drink or anything). I'm feeling like I'm going crazy.
    people don't remember me anymore

I'm in a different timeline..do u guys still the same ..or you guys are another version of yourselves? just curious

we are changing and shifting our consciousness between universes. all the time, nanoseconds per billions of seconds, which is how motion is created (planck scale) ..but slight changes occur, when you focus in a BIG SHIFT, shift your vibration. you will literally shift to another universe, and you will no longer interact with people from your preview universe !!! (just with versions of them) as Bashar explained here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfkLnJ0U9TQ

I don't know in what universe I'm in anymore

    things keep changing constantly
    without any reason"

Either he is joking,or he needs to see the doctor

Thanks, origin, You see,I found some inconsistencies in his post. First,he claims that he 'learned' how to jump. Second, he says that things constantly changes, even without 'jumping'. So he 'travels' in both 'jumping' and spontaneously.Looks suspicious

Yes I'm still here. And yup, the guy is barking, isn't he? Away with the fairies. Off his trolley.

Alexander, the internet is a wonderful thing, but it contains no filters. We all need to treat what we read on it with a healthy dose of scepticism, when we see extraordinary claims from people we have never met or heard of. Checking the source of the claims and the extent to which they have been verified is a normal precaution.

No of course I didn't. I never waste my time watching videos, unless they come strongly recommended, from an unimpeachable source.

There's a medical condition in which the affected person comes to believe that familiar items like their house, car, pets, spouse, parents, etc are impostors. So wouldn't be surprising that other rare brain deviations or possibly minor bloodclot-related damage might be available to explain this without resorting to a deceptive attention-getting explanation (or just missed meds).

Abrupt selective or even near-total amnesia has supposedly occurred in individuals with no apparent outward causes, but the missing slots don't get immediately filled-in / replaced by a make-believe life history. One might wonder about the possibility of memories just getting scrambled rather than the bridges to them being dynamited, though.

In terms of lame amusement: Previous moments were slightly altered states of "this" current cosmos, so in that sense we'd all be cognitively shifting to parallel universes constantly. Of course, that's if one believes in a presentism or commonsense view, where time is treated as a process of global nows existentially replacing each other -- without any concern for the brute conjurings / annihilations of these world substitutions, and consequences of "now" differing location-wise via relational factors, etc. Julian Barbour's "The End of Time" conception might even be a hybrid concoction of QM "multiverse" and a stratified manifold, which would then have applicable parallel universes competing to be the next Now perceived by conscious agents. In which context, we'd be all the more parallel universe travelers (though just as the cognitive connects between altered versions of the brain rather than physical bodies literally "teleporting" moment by moment from one slightly altered cosmos to the next).
