Gamer debate. Just answer the question: do you think final fantasy viii is the best final fantasy ever? Simple really. If you don't agree with the question post what ever you feel is specific to the title. I will insert my posts as those coming follow mine. I will post a few specific introductory remarks of my own. Yes, absolutely the best final fantasy game ever. Takes the level of GFs which are designed to show off the graphics as well as give the battle system a real time feel. Which was quite educational. We also learned that one should not depend on other final fantasys because of this rule. Lol. Do not depend on other final fantasy games. What a dozer. Yeah we did learn a lot since 8 is the one which takes the graphics up a notch. No other fantasy / anime design has ever produced high quality graphics like in the GFs of 8. post away
There is really no way I can reply to your post pjdude1219. Aside from imputting a great deal of typing... In 7, the graphics were terrible. In 7, the story didn't even make sense. In 7, you don't have a late game that drops the bomb. Plus you don't get cards. There is too much about ffviii that makes it better in every way than every game ever made.
seven is the yardstick by which all other rpg's are measured. the words do not exist for how wrong you are. and i couldn't give a damn bout graphics give me gameplay anyday of the week
He's right though - FF7 was, and is, the "crown jewel" of the oldschool RPG - and I've never played ANY of the Final Fantasy games. Closest I've come is... Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Personally, I think FFVIII's gameplay is prohibitively bad. The whole "draw" system for magic is terrible; the method with which level grinding was rendered useless was both arbitrarily-determined and pointlessly restrictive in terms of gameplay style (an example of a better model of enemy scaling would be to look at Elder Scrolls, where levelling up gave you access to harder enemies, rather than simply making the enemies more powerful); and there was something else... I can't remember what other problem I had with the gameplay of FFVIII. I haven't played in a long time. It's a real shame, too, since FFVIII has excellent music and, from what I hear, a nice story. As for FFVII, it has an excellent story (What doesn't make sense? I could understand it, even after the spin-offs.); the gameplay, while not ideal, is far from prohibitively bad; it's got excellent music... really, the only problems that I have with FFVII itself is the aesthetic (by that, I am NOT referring to the "graphics quality," since that doesn't really bother me, but rather the over-the-top anime aspect that I stopped liking back in early high school), and the obnoxious fans who seem to like it for all the wrong reasons.
Good things about FF8: The story - Teen-drama mixed with grandiose sci-fi / fantasy, set in world of 20th century technology mixed with magic. The graphics - The best graphics I've seen on the PS1. The graphics for the characters, spells/summons, buildings, environments etc, were all done very well. Even the places which were only for optional side-quests looked very good. Most of the cities look continental European, with old ornate buildings. The gameplay mechanics were flawed, but the gameplay wasn't sluggish and boring like with some RPGs.
My weakly-transitive ranking of Final Fantasy games: 1st. 7 and 8 2nd. 6, X-2, and 12 3rd. 5, 9 and 10 4th. 4
I would say that V, VII and X-2 are my top three Final Fantasy games. But I don't think I could rate them individually, I like each of them as much as the other two.
That's a really tough decision. I am torn between Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII. I just like the nostalgic feeling that comes with it when playing either of them! But I know that I don't like X-2 too much Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Never was a big FF fan. I only played one of them to play Blitzball Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
FF12 was one of my favorites. The world was spectacular. The large number of non-linear quest options was nice. The story was great also. I never played the online FF games, 11 and 14 I believe. FF10 was good as well. The story was among the best. I started playing FF back in high school in the early 90's. My first FF games was FF4 which I played in 1993. I have been playing the series ever since. DE
im confused, are you saying final fantasy viii is the best game ever or best final fantasy game ever. because the best game ever is undertale
DaveC426913, I have played Myst and SimCity. I agree those are great games. Have you played Dark Souls? It is deceptively amazing
Yes I know the feeling of a long hiatus from games. It's good to be back in the gaming world Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
