After a bit of setup and cleanup, here are a few pictures of some things I have done. I will start with a few of my older wall murals, of which I have done 57 in the US and Canada.

"South Point, Gargantua Bay", the oil painting I mentioned and described in another thread. 24" x 36", one of a series I am doing based on images from Gargantua Bay. I am currently working on a painting of a sunset over the South Point of the bay.

"Eleanora of Toledo", after Bronzino. I wanted to learn how he did this portrait so I gave it a try in oils.

Here are some of my small sculptures. I enjoy working stone quite a lot, though I also work in cone 10 porcelain, stoneware, terra - cotta, metal, wood etc.

3 foot x 5 foot ceramic tile "Paleopeople". This is an anthropological - themed piece showcasing humanities technical progress through history. Note the Sundial and the Analemma under the Aztec Sunstone. The sunstone is about 14 inches across, carved in plaster, moulded and press-cast in terra cotta. I posted the process here some years ago.

"Skates and Paths", a ceramic tile piece based on hexagonal tiles. I like MC Escher, obviously, and have studied Tilings of the Plane and Space quite a lot.

OK, here ^ is some of the stuff I have done. You will note I am strongly traditional and enjoy very complex work. I produce work in several different avenues, as the subject matter of the paintings may suggest. Landscapes, portraits, geometry and fantasy are several of those avenues. There are others, and I also work in other media, but these should give you an idea of where I am at creatively.

How big is "Sail"? Did you get your marble in Vermont? I took a marble carving class in West Rutland once.

"Sail" is 6 & 1/2 inches high, 6 inches wide and 2 inches deep. I obtained the alabaster from the US Gypsum quarry in Alabaster, Michigan and the grey marble from the Barre marble quarry in Barre, Vermont. Also picked up a bunch of Barre Grey granite and Barre White marble as long as I was there...

I started carving stone when someone made the mistake of handing me a chunk of soapstone when I was a Cub Scout in Southern California.

    I never quit carving stone.

Yes Cosmic, I work onyx. I keep a huge inventory of various stones on hand, among other things.

When I lived in Corona Del Mar I did some sculpture work with metal. Unfortunately my EX destroyed all the photos of my work when she left me so I have nothing to show. I only did it for a brief period of time for few people wanted to buy what I was doing so I needed to find another way to earn money.

Southern California - Riverside, to be specific in my case - was a great place to be a kid 55 years ago. Lots of art students at UCR to hang with, the hills were chock full of fun. I removed a fist - sized feldspar crystal from its matrix in a huge granite outcrop and a chunk of quartz with a fine schorl (black tourmaline) crystal from the wall of an abandoned gold mine a moderate hike from our home. Still have those crystals on a shelf in my studio, though they now have lots of company. Also a bunch of fossil fish parts I pulled from the cliff over Gaviota Beach.

I decided to be an artist and a scientist when I was in third grade. Never had a thought as to the hassles that may entail. Had to work very hard to get to where I am now. Still have to sometimes (often), though age and the side effects from the cancer therapies slow me down (that should back way off towards the end of this year

). I learned forging, foundry and jewelry arts at Michigan State University, have a complete metal working setup in the workshop and a small foundry in the garage. Centrifugal casting with oxygen/acetylene, primarily silicon bronze. The phacops rana trilobite is cast, fit and soldered together. I have a bunch of other small sculpture as well, am working on some larger stuff in sheet copper.

As for life goals, I have met all of the goals I set for myself thus far and am content. Never needed to be "famous", though I am pretty well - known around here. Mostly for religiously running the trails with my dog though. She is actually more popular, I am just the guy on the other end of the leash.....

Yeah, my EX got a bunch of my stuff too, but not the most as I was pretty vigilant and kept real tight with the local police department through the process until I was allowed to change the locks out.

I did find one picture of a bike I made. I think I might have shown it to those here a long time ago.

Very nice, Cosmic. I think I recall the bike. Honda 750cc/4 cylinder? I have some small experience with motorcycles too.
