Hi there. I'm Schneibster, and you may save yourselves some typing and call me "Schneib." I've been around the 'Net for a long time, but I swore off forums for a while because I had some trouble. I've looked this place over and it seems suitable. I'm a software engineer and general computer hassler. I like physics and astronomy, and I fight the global warming wars on the pro-AGW side. I believe that most people can understand physics, even some fairly hairy concepts, with the right explanation, and I'm willing to try to explain it to them. I have done a lot of research on small fusion, and know my way around it pretty well. I hope to make a contribution here. Thanks for taking the time to meet me. I'll take questions now if you have any.
Hi Schneib! I'm an even older bastard than you, a retired Maintenance Fitter and Machinist, with a great interest in cosmology, astronomy and space in general: I stick to the mainstream generally for many different reasons. Mainstream was always at one time in the fringes before enough evidence and successful predictions advanced it to scientific theory status. I was once lucky enough to participate in another forum, now defunct that had our own astronomer from Sydney Uni, a young GR expert and our administrator here, James. Taking a leaf out of those experts I have also read many reputable books from Hawking's BHoT, to Kip Thorne's Black Holes and Time Warps and Gravity's Fatal Attraction by Sir MARTIN Rees and Mitch Begalman and many others. I'm not very popular with cranks, and alternative hypothesis pushers for certain reasons, although I'm really a nice lovable sort of a bloke, still pretty fit with surfing near every morning at Maroubra and the occasional ale.
Sounds like we'll get along pretty well, paddoboy; I'm pretty unlikely to be popular with cranks myself. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Have you read Brian Greene's The Elegant Universe and The Fabric of the Cosmos? And here's one a lot of people haven't read, and should: Vincent Icke's The Force of Symmetry.
Yep with regards to the Elegant Universe. I was going to post this elsewhere but I reckon you would appreciate it. I recommend that every person on the planet should watch this doco. https://chasingice.com/ If you can get the full doco, do it.
does this research consist of experience? as in you have actually worked with fusion in labs or such, or is your research simply wiki and google only? i have this feeling of you having your own " theory " on fusion that probably will attempt to insult actual science and scientist. i hope you prove me wrong.
No, no! I didn't think it could be misinterpreted that way! No, I haven't personally participated in any direct fusion research myself. You're correct, I meant on the 'Net; I've been following EMC2 (the Bussard legacy folks), and the DPF folks (Dense Plasma Focus, that is), mostly, and keeping an eye on General Fusion and the ITER project over my shoulder. I look at LENR every so often, but I doubt anything will ever come of it. Rossi is a con-man, Black Light is another con-game, and most if not all of the rest are cranks. If I expect anything to work, it's EMC2's Polywell and ITER (if it doesn't die of advanced hardening of the spleen and pernicious bureaucratitis first). And no, I don't have my own theory of fusion, nor about much of anything but software engineering. In that, I'm qualified to have my own theories. You're too jaded, man!
ahh-yes-yes--some truth about me.. i am not sure of this but you appear to be an individual who has recognized this about me. also, i looked into your post since i posted that-- you are okay so far in my book--also, you will soon learn about the narcissistic ignoramus around here-- in fact, i have read your interactions with some of them--nice work.
I get my little green guys with big bald heads and big eyes mixed up; which one did you choose as your avatar?
So they're in on the plot with the Russians? Thanks, I'd never have guessed. BTW, know what General Jack's favorite drink is? Purity of Essence, half and half rainwater and Everclear.
Dang it, you're right, it was branch water. Still, I got the Everclear right, and the punch line, which is the name of the drink.
if you are referring to my image, i created it, colored it green. nowadays, i see it on the net everywhere. i was also informed that some guy used it for his book-- oh well tho.
I was thinking it might be Thor from Stargate or one of his buddies. I can't remember if he had a nose or not.
Hey BWE1. Still alive and relatively well. Lots of water under the bridge since I saw you last. How about you?
