Over the past couple of months I have came across two people who are legitimate Flat Earthers. I didn't know this was a thing, but apparently there is a group of goofballs who are promoting this idiotic notion. It also seems impossible to convince them otherwise. They simply fall back on it being a huge conspiracy that NASA is a big part of. Wondering if anyone else has ran into this?
I believe the Flat Earth Society based in the UK was in recent years peopled by delightful eccentrics who favoured a Flat Earth, not out of an intrinsic belief, but rather a cheeky, tongue-in cheek position for its entertainment value.
But I'm thinking if they found the earth as Ghost(flat earth) then they will not believe any evidence of non-flat earth.

You are right, I think. I believe they have a nice membership certificate when you join (at a cost). I though one would be nice besides my P.h. D. certificate, but did not want to pay for it.

Few have confirmed as I have that the surface of the earth a sphere. I have been in the USA when the moon appeared like C, and then ~10 hours later in Sao Paulo, Brazil. There I noted that the opening of the C was now of the left side. This is because "down" has become "up" and that exchanges what is right and left for you. Look at: C normally (head up) and then look at that C thru your legs (head down) and see the C then opens to your left / reverses. When I am in Sao Paulo, I am "head down" compared to when standing up in the USA, as I am always standing on a spherical globe. The flat-Earthers can explain most observaions: For example you only think you flew around the earth when actually you just went around a big flat circle above the flat Earth, but I don't think they can explain the reversed opening of the new moon when I am always (in US & Brazil) standing straight up. I probably am not the first to offer this proof of the spherical earth, but it came to me naturally as I did note the opening of the cresent moon reversed (right to left) and knew that takes about 14 days and then figured out how it could happen in 10 hours.
I stop listening to the flat-earthers before they try to explain how that works. Do any of y'all know?
Gravity? The earth is actually accelerating upwards. Of that were true, im betting the earth would have surpassed the speed of light by now..
Im kind of curious about Flat Earthers, because it is a mystery for me, how mentally sane person can believe something so ridiculous. But it seems that most of them have problem to explain where is the edge of Flat Earth, so they simply avoid the question.
According to one of the ones I've met, the South Pole is actually a wall of ice, hundreds of feet high, that encircles said "edge". I wouldn't call that sane...
Same here. One guy I know, with whom I've actually discussed this with, (well listened to mostly) mentioned that. Also NASA is a hoax, and the only reason I think the earth isn't flat is because that's what they've been telling us to believe. Next time I see him I'm going to try and find out what other crazy conspiracies he is into.
