I think we should never seek revenge, and try to always take the higher road. In the end, that brings greater peace. But, this doesn't mean we should hang around people who treat us badly, it just means to not try to ''right'' an injustice, by doing the same thing back to that person.
Which, given the mindset and lifestyle of today's society, is the reason we have rules, laws, and law enforcement institutions.
Not only does that make no sense - subscribing to "Do whatever you want to do" = a reason to have laws etc, it's also incorrect: we've had rules, laws and law enforcement institutions longer than we've had the "mindset & lifestyle of today's society".
On taking revenge a man is equal with his enemy but to pass it over he is superior for it is a princes part to pardon. I think that was from Sir Francis Bacon and may not be exact. I rely upon an unreliable memory. It has been my experience that if you treat others with respect and kindness they respond better and if you think about it most folk don't act that way to others and so you may stand out as respectful and kind causing others to settle and respond better. If they still carry on well you can at least content yourself that you did your best. If you let folk annoy you then they win. And always there are folk who seek oneupmanship cause they feel the need to be better than others which is sad. To give them a hard time will only cause them to fight for the last word. And these folk never think they have lost an argument... They just think they have failed to make their point quiet clear. If they are really annoying they will annoy others so leave it to someone else to smash their face in. Alex
