I had my first colonoscopy today an the experience at the hospital was right pleasant.!!!

I only had to wait about 10 minutes befor they called me back.!!!

The women at the sign in desk was realy nice... the 2 nurses that brout me a hot blanket an hooked me up to BP machine... IV an oxygen level fanger-clamp was realy nice... an the one who wheeled me to the procedure room went realy fast.!!!

The Dr. who preformed the procedure was realy nice.!!!

When i got to the procedure room sombody said they was gonna increase the sedation medicine an begin the procedure... an the next thang they said was... you'r all done.!!!

So i say to anybody like me who kept puttin it off... get 'er done... its fun.!!!

Mine was likewise uneventful and - as doc stuff goes - efficient and well done. (Very little waiting around - unusual for a doctor's office). I probably won't get another for quite a while - they're expensive for my income bracket, and Obamacare looks like it's going away before I'm due - but if you have good insurance do it.

In Homer, Alaska, there's a doc who does them out of his garage. And it's a nice place to visit, especially in the summer. Get your colonoscopy, wander down the hill and hang out at the Two Sisters, stroll on the beach where most of the dead fish are bigger than anything you'll ever catch in the lower 48, leave the moose in the yards alone - the mom only looks like she isn't paying attention.

You're in the wrong place! Mine cost me SFA! Other than a Taxi home as I was not allowed to drive.

Its a great place isnt it.
My back opperation... Private single room with ensuite, view over the Gold Coast, six weeks, major opperation on my back, three mri scans, three angiograms, push button pain relief, and all it cost was $6.50 for some pain killer the day I left.
Best country in the world, but its a pity university now costs cash.

University should be free and it would be if we were not a major exporter of education.
I also blame immigration cause the miserable dogs dont want them foreigns to get free stuff.

First colonoscopy 10 years ago went swimmingly - nothing unusual beyond my Longshoreman's hemorrhoids. Last one this past July - after Adjuvant Radiation Therapy for my prostate cancer - came up with one benign polyp and a bunch of large gas blisters. The doc said he poked one and it deflated. He took pix and shared them. I got a copy. He said they would be reabsorbed eventually and were not unheard of or (very) problematic.

A very pretty young lady introduced herself as the anesthesiologist and said she would be my bartender. I told her I was very uncomfortable being conscious at that time and would like to pass out now, please. She obliged and I woke up to my lovely wife telling me to fart a bunch so we could leave.

Gratefully, I have never tasted antifreeze, but that crap certainly did taste like I imagine antifreeze would. :barf:

I've been getting one every ten years. The last one was a few months ago. I'm 73, and the doctor said he wouldn't recommend another. Colon cancer spreads so slowly that if I test positive at age 83, it's almost certain that I'll die from some other cause before the cancer gets me.

A straw is most helpful in getting that stuff down. Bypass the taste buds completely.

Bingo! Same in fact with most Prostate Cancer diagnosis.
I was told by a Specialist that more men die with Prostate Cancer, then of Prostate Cancer.

Yeah, well I am one of those guys the government :asshats: said shouldn't bother with the PSA test. Glad I ignored those idiots and got it anyways. I deeply appreciate that palliative care is much cheaper than surgery, radiation and chemo, but I would like to see if I get any grandchildren rather than having my bones break when I stand up or feel that tumour growing in my lungs, liver and/or brain. Billy T died from that, we will recall, as did my ophthalmologist earlier this year. It seems kinda strange - if PCa is all that rare and innocuous (ha, ha, ha - what a frikkin joke) that I would know so many guys who have it, have had it or have died from it. Same thing with colon cancer - I know too many who have died from that to buy into it being either rare or innocuous.

But don't worry, since the treatments have not been 100% successful I will certainly die with prostate cancer and hopefully not from it, though that remains to be seen. I would suggest, however, that your specialist go ahead and just skip those tests himself and just accept whatever fate comes his way from out the blue.

My prostate gets checked with a blood test.

If anyone is advised to have a prostate operation I suggest they really really check with as many specialist and I do mean specialist for options.

Your age and aggressiveness of the cancer will be main considerations.

Other factors, general health and types of treatment available are in there.

Various side effects of any particular treatment need to be thought about.

Health insurance could be a factor.

Having said all that GET PROSTATE AND BOWEL CHECKED AS PER DOCTORS RECOMMENDATIONS.

Colonoscopy was a breeze and I caught up with a few work colleagues.

In fact I ask for a favour from the doctor doing the colonoscopy. Asked while he was up there could he check out my sore throat.

Nurse in recovery told me he took out my tonsils as a bonus.

    True story.

Humpty Dumpty has no internal workings. Nothing to see there if you got in.
    Poe says ditto.

Tonsils have been removed twice now. First time they were burnt out with x - rays (1956). They gradually regrew until they got so big they gave me sleep apnea so I got them cut out in 2007. That hurt, BTW.

I got knocked out for the prostate biopsy and the colonoscopies.
