Possibly one of the more liberal destinations in America. Friendly people who love newcomers. Low taxes and a healthy economy. Abundant housing and affordable rents. Beautiful country with boundless recreational opportunities. There's no better land than the Evergreen State. Come one, come all.

Meh...think I will just stay here in Detroit, though Washington does have larger and more robust Banana Slugs.

Washington is a nice place. But, of course, so is the entire Pacific Northwest, including coastal Oregon, and going all the way down to the northernmost suburbs of San Francisco. I lived in Humboldt County (county seat: Eureka) for several years and it was just fine. The 1960s are still in full bloom there.

Or you could emigrate across the border and live in Vancouver.

'Tis a land of mysteries. A bit like Oregon, only slightly less so. Or something like that.

Washington is the place to be. I've been there many times. Would move there but have my sights on the Caribbean Islands. Oregon is very conservative. You can't walk the streets of Portland without counting at least five NRA T-shirts.

...and a few nekked crazies on bicycles. Portland is a bit infamous....I see it on Cops a lot.

. . . while dodging the trolleys and trains of the largest light-rail network on the West Coast, all the bike commuters and the regular anti-war protests.

Oregon regularly votes for more liberal candidates. But if you removed Portland, it would be almost moderate.

Or . . . . . as it might be described . . . .. "The CULTURAL . . . as well as . . . INTELLECTUAL, hub of the Universe!. . . . Anywhere in the world , put your car in neutral, release the handbrake, and GRAVITY pulls it toward WA State!" (HAHA!) (Actually, I heard this first said about Statesville, NC by my friend Dave Pressley!)

Portland isn't conservative. Both Oregon and Washington state are much more conservative outside of the Portland and Seattle areas. Much the same could be said for any urban/rural areas.

Portland is quite liberal in the core of the city, but when you travel towards the outlying parts of the city, it definitely has a more conservative feel. The problem with Portland is that most efforts for additional housing are focused in the city core. They are now building condos that offer no parking whatsoever. During the mayoral debate only one candidate suggested focusing on the outer limits of the city.

Yeah its all rosy and cozy, until you realize how hard it is to live in Washington state due to high costs and hard to find jobs all going to techies.

It's not just the market, it's the vibe...
