Do you love sci-fi movies? Do you go into withdrawal when there hasn't been one in awhile? Do you feverishly idolize J.J. Abrams and Ridley Scott? Here's a sure relief for your symptoms: "With there being only a few new sci-fi movies coming in 2015, we’re ready to look ahead at what movies are coming in 2016 and beyond. And, judging by the slate of films we’ve compiled here, 2016 and 2017 are going to be big for sci-fi film junkies. From alien invasions to space battles to post apocalyptic adventures to everything else in the realm of endless possibilities, there are plenty of potentially great (and probably some not-so-great) science fiction movies on the horizon...." http://www.nerdmuch.com/movies/3578/upcoming-new-sci-fi-movies-2016-2017-to-watch-release-calendar/
While certainly being a fan of sci/fi movies, I just as certainly do not go into any withdrawal if there has not been one for a while. In saying that I see myself as rather choosy re what sci/fi movies I watch. I still prefer some of the fifties classics such as "The Day the Earth Stood Still" and "War of the Worlds" or "Forbidden Planet" over any of the more recent remakes of these classics. I loved Interstellar, Gravity and The Martian, but still have them below the 68 classic "2001: A Space Odyssey" In more recent times, I also liked Mission to Mars and Contact. Of course the whole franchise of Star Trek are up there among my collection, yet the Star Wars collection, along with Independance Day and some remakes such as that of The Day The Earth Stood Still, I can take or leave. Thanks for the list: I'll keep an eye out for them.
Thirty-eight? And here I thought "listicles" were bad. No wonder they always stop at ten, or else go to eleven, because, you know, this one goes to eleven. Or that one. Or whatever. Sorry, my cynicism is running a bit high right now. And yet, when it comes to good science fiction, have I seen any in recent years? Oh, right. There were a couple decent ones last year. Never mind; I'm just ranting. Let me know when someone options Alien Earth↱.

Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! That was "War of the Worlds" remake... The "Day the Earth Stood Still" starred Keanu Reeves. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Either way, even allowing for the far more realistic computer generated scenes, in both movies, neither in my opinion anyway, reached the standard and interest of the originals.
That came to me just as I fell asleep. Agree both were stuffed up. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Ah, that takes me back... but actually only to Evil Dead: Army of Darkness... Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! "Klatu Barada N... Necktie... Neckturn... Nickel... it's an N word, it's definitely an N word!"
