Not certain whether everyone has heard of Shia LaBeouf's art project that didn't go as planned. What was intended as a political statement turned into a troll fest. Apparently Shia was arrested for assaulting someone, and now access to the project is being controlled--by whom I do not know. I offer the below video with a warning that it might be offensive...
Sorry Bowser, I could only make it about 2 & 1/2 minutes into that shitfest. IMHO, that ain't "art", though it is indeed sort-of political. I still can't recall the Chinese person I must have offended to rate living in these times........
That origin is fraudulent. It was created, and first uttered, by an Englishman. It has a bit of Chinese style, so people assumed it must have come from China. If you think this is bizarre, try looking up the etymology of the word/abbreviation/expression "OK" or "okay." There are a dozen well-attested sources, suggesting an enormous coincidence of similar words with similar meanings all being brought to the USA from different places, but at more or less the same time. IMHO, the three most solid contenders are Wolof (an African language spoken by many of the slaves in the USA) waaw-kay, "I agree/I will do it," Scottish dialect och aye, "oh yes," and French au quai, “on the quayside” as in “ready for loading.”
While I very much like the French version, I lived in Burns Flat for a couple of years so the Oklahoma reference is more familiar to me....
