    The active principle, according to the link, if you can struggle through the jokey journalese, seems to be our old friend or enemy, H2S. Something to do with lowering blood pressure. I must say I'd like to see a proper scientific reference to this, as I thought things like garlic, which are mentioned, gave rise to more complex organic sulphur compounds: mercaptans and so forth.

    In a way I'm just relieved he has not gone a bit further down the Periodic Table - and a bit to the left - to Arsenic. There are in fact analogues of pyrroles called arsoles........ How we used to laugh, in the Dyson Perrins lab........
