The Jews, for sure, were on the right track before Christianity usurped their God and reversed much of what they believed.

Jews, in their Karaite oral tradition put men above God just as one of the Jesus' shown in scriptures did.

Gnostic Christianity though has bested all the Abrahamic creeds.

My obsession is based on disliking intolerant homophobic and misogynous religions that continue to harm many.

If there were more like me, such religions would die out a lot faster.

    Regards

I am supported in my view by Gnostic Christianity but admit to being quite fundamental in my belief in equality under the law.

Aren't you? If not, why not?

Chosen tong in cheep as I knew what was to happen when I started posting.

I spoke of that to the God I found but he sais I should follow my bliss and note those who attacked the name instead of the issues at hand.

Would you say the same of all the Mexicans who are named Jesus or all the many many Muslims who call themselves Mohammad?

Who said I'm looking for excuses? I simply point out the facts - Christianity has its murderers... ours are just less well broadcast (such as the numerous parents who let their kids die of perfectly treatable diseases because it was "God's Will", or the KKK, or other Christian Extremist groups)

The simple fact is this - unless you are willing to advocate for wholesale extermination on a scale that makes the Holocaust look like a barfight, then you aren't going to "stop" Islamic Extremists through force... and in fact, all you will do by bombing the shit out of their countries is help them recruit MORE people, as we have seen happen time and again. They hide in the civilians, forcing us to inflict collateral damages, and then use said civilian deaths as propaganda to recruit.

That isn't something we can win through military force.

If one cares to dig even a little, this could be said of all major world religions.

I did Google about how many religions were in the world and it seems to be an estimated 4,200

Not sure how many would be classified as major

If god (any god I'm not fussy) would grant me a day with god powers I would
    • Erase away all memories of all 4,200 religions
    • Excise what ever part of the brain which seems to require religion
    • Remove all physical trace of religion no matter how valuable it was within a world with religion
I may have missed some aspects of the eradication but you get the idea

Of course I would be loosing my god power at the last moment

Would I replace religion with something else?

    No

There are enough people in the world who see the world as it is and do not require religion

I would hope that this aspect would be inherent in all and shine through when not shackled with religion

This is part of the plot of the great Arthur C. Clarke novel, Songs of Distant Earth.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Songs_of_Distant_Earth

The space travelers are sent on their way to a distant planet (as embryos) with millions of electronic books. All have been pared of all traces of religion. Many religious books weren't sent.

    So?

If Christianity allows such this or that, then one must not question Islam? What an argument!

There are many leaders (present and past) like Trump, so why question Trump? Thats your argument.

Highly recommended. As usual, intelligent, thoughtful, philosophical, smart characters, strong women, very little violence, no chases, very little sex, no cussing.

Nothing that a youngster would want to read.

    By the by...

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...ims-reach-out-to-help/?utm_term=.90dbbff93f68

So... no, simply put, not all Muslims feel that they are the "exclusive" religion, or that those who do not follow Islam should be put to death. Truth be told, it is a minority that actually feel that way (much as it is a minority of Christians that feel those who follow other religions need to be converted or put to death)

So you are a fundamentalist who hates other religions. Let's hope you don't decide that jihad is the answer.
I don't really hate any other religions. I dislike evil people, but I find that they exist whether or not religion does.

The irony of this statement is that you are equally intolerant of others for their religious beliefs and wish to destroy them because of it...

You do see the irony of your own intolerance, yes?

What you are advocating for is the abolishing of religious belief.. You wish to deny people their freedoms.

Aren't you just as intolerant and as hateful as the religions you claim are intolerant and hateful? In your case, you wish to deny religious freedoms to billions of people.

Well you don't believe in equality under the law. Because equality under the law protects one's religious rights to worship and believe in what they please. You seem to wish to remove any sense of equality and discriminate because of their religious beliefs.

Tell me, why are your beliefs more important than anyone else's?

But religion, like the KKK and Nazism, can give evil people a place to gather with other evil people and create the "us vs them" which is required to attract even more evil people.

Well, certainly - so can politics, wealth, natural resources... basically anything that can grant any sort of power. Power corrupts.

Do you have evidence that ANY Christians feel followers of other religions should be put to death? I very much doubt any feel that way - if we exclude the mentally ill.

Islam was founded by a more warlike prophet than Christianity. You can to this day see Mohammed's swords, in the Tokapi Palace in Istanbul: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sacred_Relics_(Topkapı_Palace) And Mohammed's life was largely one of military campaigns.

While there is a long and glorious history of Islam later being peaceful and tolerant, its first exponent was undeniably very different from Jesus. There seems reason to think this may influence the range of interpretations and practices that Islam follows today.

Has this god a name? Are you leaning towards a very early jewish religion?
    I gather from this...
The god you found does speak to you?(top quote). So, your god is not the god of The Bible?

Absolutely. So can Christianity, and Las Vegas, and gun shows, and atheism. But that's a bad argument against any of those things.
