Why we call modern man the one migrated from Africa 100K years ago and not the Neanderthal man,
Neanderthal man was in Europe 400K years ago , He made tools and used fiere .

400,000-Year-Old Skull Fragment Points to Undiscovered Neanderthal Ancestor

Scientists have firmly dated a 400,000-year-old skull fragment in Portugal, which could point to a previously unknown ancestor to the Neanderthals.

The skull bears a mixture of traits—some link it to the Neanderthals, such as a fused brow ridge, while other features are representative of other extinct fossils in Europe, according to the journal Science.

Researchers made the discovery in 2014 in the Gruta da Aroeira cave in central Portugal and believe it is a member of the genus homo, according to the study published Monday in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS ).

Little is known about the fragment or what type of early human it came from.

Neanderthals are thought to be the closest ancestor to homo sapiens, the species to which all modern human beings belong. Modern humans first appeared in Africa around 150,000 to 200,000 years ago, before migrating out of the continent around 100,000 years ago. Neanderthals are thought to have occupied Europe and Asia from 200,000 to 40,000 years ago, when they went extinct.

The Portuguese fragment shares some features with bones discovered in Spain that are around 430,000 years old, and also shares traits with fragments found in south France dating back 450,000 years. It is the oldest human cranium fossil found in Portugal and is the westernmost fossil ever found in Europe during the Middle Pleistocene period, which lasted from around 781,000 to 126,000 years ago.

Because it is the last anatomical version of hominid that prevailed and currently exists. In other words, it's the latest model and the most recent.

Yes they did. But so did other hominids.

Earlier hominids also used fire and tools.

Homo sapiens and Homo neanderthalensis lived more-or-less in harmony for quite a long time in Europe. The Neanderthals were probably a little stronger and, therefore, came in handy when wrestling the large animals that populated Europe during the ice age.

But as the climate softened, the megafauna (mammoths, cave bears, etc.) were dying off and smaller, faster animals began migrating to Europe.

At the same time, the rise in temperature began to criss-cross Europe with rivers that were once ice. Homo sapiens is a little more buoyant than the Neanderthals, so our people could swim and fish in lakes and rivers that would drown a Neanderthal.

There were other anatomical differences that resulted in a disadvantage to the Neanderthals. For example, the articulation in their arms made it utterly impossible to use a bow and arrow--a wonderful tool invented by the Homo sapiens.

The cooperation between the two species carried on for thousands of years, and indeed, the Homo sapiens who now live in Europe have about 5% Neanderthal DNA. So it's not like the Neanderthals became extinct: they simply intermarried and left telltale bits of DNA in their hybrid offspring.

Just a couple of days ago I read an article in the science section of the Washington Post. It said that every human being, except the Africans, has about 5% Neanderthal DNA.

How ever you would call him or label him , if you would be there you would get pregnant and so were the so called modern beings as yourself a modern woman got pregnant. The fact is you and I carry the genes of those so non modern.

You also carry quite a lot of the genetic material of bananas.

But yes Neanderthal man is thought to have been able to cross-breed with homo sapiens sapiens, just as different breeds of dog can.

In reality they were genetically compatible with the so called modern man, Interesting for me if some one have made a study on genes from the ESKIMO and the % of Neanderthal gene in them . I have read this in the past , that the African being lacs gene from Neanderthal. That also puts in doubt the idea that African black become white by moving north.

    This could be good, actually.

I sense the opportunity for white supremacists to claim racial uniqueness, on grounds that they are the ones with the true Neanderthal heritage!

With all the information available , you can pick and put 2 + 3 = 5
Did the Brazilian aborigene have become black . they are in a jungle at the same equatorial level as those black in Africa . They are there over 10000 years , their skin did not turn black

I am not a with supremacist, but we don't know how this differences were established but we don't have to bs our self and convince our self for some that is questionable.

What does that have to do with anything?

Umm, everyone, and I mean every person, carries the genes of "those so non modern" in one variety or form.

    In a way yes. And?

They would have some. Probably like the Europeans and many throughout the Northern Asian continent.. A few percent.

    Huh?

Modern European hunter gatherers were originally dark skinned and/or black. White or paler skin adaptation to the European climate and reduced sunlight or bright light occurred fairly recently in Europe and parts of Asia for a large portion of Europeans.

You are completely ignoring actual science and have every appearance of making stuff up. For example, this gem:

"That also puts in doubt the idea that African black become white by moving north."

Shows the level of your ignorance.

Tell me, do you think that Europeans are a completely different "race"? Because you seem to be arguing from a standpoint that Neanderthals were the real "modern man", and the inclusion of Neanderthal DNA in Europeans, for example, makes you more modern than others because they lack Neanderthal DNA. So when we take the arc of your argument in this thread and read that ridiculous statement above, about "That also puts in doubt the idea that African black become white by moving north.", then something dark and rancid leaks out of your post.

If we were to take the science and put 2+3=5, then we would acknowledge that modern man's migration out of Africa did literally result in 'black people becoming white' over the generations once they reached Europe. The reason for that is the lack of sunlight in many parts of Europe, meant that they had to adapt because vitamin D is vital to our wellbeing.

Are they white and pale skinned?

No. Their skin colour adaptation suits the climate they are in.

    Why would it turn "black"?

Did these ''Brazilian aborigene '' originate in south America or were they from somewhere else?
Even the Australia aborigine has his origins in Africa.

Seems they are thought to have migrated from Asia 13-17k yrs ago, after the last ice age. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indigenous_peoples_in_Brazil

So the question then is where these Siberian people originated from - and I suppose we are then back to Africa, with a bit of intermixing of Neanderthal along the way, perhaps.

It seems everyone comes from Africa.
    https://www.theatlantic.com/health/...frica-the-first-in-asia-and-australia/245392/
Somewhere I read South America was peopled starting from the west coast as the early people followed the coast from north to south. That's north as in near the Bering Sea.

Woman. what is the standard explanation on how the modern man become white after he migrated from Africa,
Second: You answer who was the earlier inhabitant in Europe, before 100K years ago.
Third: If the African man becomes white , because he lost it's melanin as he mowed farther from equator >
Now, since Neanderthal man was in the north already, that would mean according to my first paragraph the Neanderthal had a white skin.
Now if the argument of the whitening is valid , then the Brazilian must become black.
Forth: I don't use the word RASE you are the one. My point at what point start MODERN MAN and why arbitrary is selected the migration 50 000 or 100 000 years from Africa .

    black---white?
Who the hell gives a goddamned shit?

How did they live, what did they eat, what did they know, how far did they travel, what did they teach their children and how did they teach, how many children did they have, did the older children take care of the younger ones, did they have a communal or clan based or tribal relationship, how did they view the other sapiens cousins?

Some folks think that "out of africa" =all genetic jumps came from africa------------is there any proof of this?
Evolution and interbreeding is an unknown when we come to the minutia of the process. let us imagine a system of back and forth migration ruled by the glacial and interglacial times wherein crossbreeding was more or less possible and/or less likely. Then what?
