After 6 years of republicans voting over and over again to repeal obamacare, now that they have total control, they could not even get a vote in the house for a replacement. The reasons are that some republican house members refused to vote yes on it, either because they felt it did not repeal enough, or because they knew what an utter disaster it would produce. Now the republicans have shifted strategies to what Trump has advocated earlier, "Let obamacare collapse, it is failing" in short instead of taking the blame for fucking over healthcare they will undermine it from the side-lines and then blame obama. In short this is not a great victory for the left, it may in fact end up a better position for the right in the end.

    OOPS!

After all the claims to the contrary, the cat's definitely out of the bag. Republicans don't have a replacement plan. After 8 years of lying, the truth has come home to roost.

Well, he's already blamed Republicans, Paul Ryan and his son-in-law Jared Kushner for the failure. Not many people left to blame. Perhaps Putin?

To me, the more interesting question is: Why do they not have a replacement plan? Or any plan?
It wasn't for lack of time; it wasn't for lack of prominent medical men on their party roster; it wasn't for lack of documentation on both the Obama plan (several versions) and the previous system; it wasn't for lack of opportunity to collect data; it wasn't for lack of warning that their turn would come.
I wonder whether it might have been because they never intended to repeal Obama initiative; they just meant to use it as a punching-bag and then leave it in place
    - just this bozo didn't get the memo.

Of course they don't have a replacement plan! Obamacare its self is descended from the heritage foundation study, this whole thing is literally the republican's version of universal healthcare.

For 8 years Republicans have been telling everyone the had an alternative to Obamacare which would deliver better and less expensive care. It's painfully obvious that was a lie.

I guess this is the end of "repeal and replace".

They never had much interest in Obamacare itself one way or the other, rather in its usefulness as leverage against Obama and other Democrats- destroying the Obama Presidency and gaining power for the Republican Party nationwide was and is the agenda. Governing was not and is not on the radar.

And Trump used it just like that. It's not that he didn't get the memo - it's that he adopted the tactic.

Only he's really, really bad at it! No surprise.
No surprise, since the Republicans spent 30 years expelling, displacing, exiling, traducing and shunning any conservative who was intelligent, honest or reasonable - or God forbid! all three.
They've got nobody left to draft a viable bill on any subject, except Mo' Money.

He was very good at it - won the Presidency with it.
Again: they aren't there to govern.

    Thought for the day...

Let’s be clear about one thing: Pulling the Trumpcare bill was NOT a defeat for Trump and the GOP.

    It was a FAILURE.

Failure is different from defeat and is much, much worse.

Let's use a football analogy. We can have a football team that is made up of top-flight All-American players. The team is disciplined; they practice and practice and practice; every player is at the peak of conditioning; they execute plays flawlessly; the coaches keep everyone focused. They go into a game at the peak of readiness with an excellent game plan. Yet, they lose. It happens every Saturday and Sunday during football season.

Defeat is not what happened here. What happened here was complete failure. Failure in every respect. Failure to plan, failure to practice, failure of conditioning, failure of coaching . . . absolute failure.

And the Trump administration is not finished failing.

It wasn't Trump's plan. It was a republican plan. Trump ain't a republican, and the house republicans now know that.
The legislature is responsible for legislation, and Trump needs the republican legislators for his other plans so he cannot afford to alienate them too much.................Politics ain't simple math.

One can always hope that a single payer plan will emerge from the dust.
Out of 435 in congress, do you think there are 10 or 11 who would propose and fight for a single payer plan?
if so, then it has a 1 in 43 chance?

So now it's Trump isn't a Republican? Then why did Republicans elect him to represent them? Why is he calling the shots in Congress? Why are Republican congressional leaders obeying Trump's orders?

The Trump vote was a brexit vote, was why Bernie had a shot. Many who voted Trump were casting a no vote for status quo.

The republican establishment thought that they might be able to tame Trump. And many members of that old republican establishment still don't understand how Trump co opted the republican vote and still hate Trump because...................................................................................................
    wait for it
    .................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
    He ain't one of them!

Well, the fact is Trump is a Republican. Republicans elected him. Just because some Republicans don't like him, it doesn't follow that he isn't a Republican.

The Republican Party has a long history of calling fellow Republicans "not Republican" when things get tough, e.g. RINOs. The Republican Party never owns up to its screwups. They never own their ideological failures.

The fact is Trump epitomizes the classic Republican entertainer. That's why he has enjoyed the support of Republican entertainment. And that's why he so easily won the Republican nomination.

Did you read up on the Mercers?

If you were to understand the differences within the Republican party(parties?) Then you might be able to understand the friction and backstabbing to come.
