IMO, Scince can provide us very little (if any) information regarding non-physical (i.e., non-observable; non-measureable) phenomena. However, science oft tells us a lot that is non-factual, or needs revision with additional observation (future information). IMO, many scientists utilize 'science' as their 'religion'. But WTF (humor here -->) "Everyone believes in something . . . I believe I'll have another drink!" (Source: paraphrase W. C. Fields)

IMO, not nearly as much fun as having unfounded beliefs that turn-out to be true!

Since I am fairly aged, I have this unfounded belief that I will wake up tomorrow morning, even though I will not have verifiable evidence that this actually occurred, until I do . . . . IMO, the past is fairly predictable HAHA!! (<---Humor intended here)

YES . . . . . but (IMO) if I told you, I would have to send a hit-man after you, or risk getting 'perma-banned' on Sciforums (<-- more humor intended here!)

    IMO
(also), unfounded beliefs (ideas?, hypotheses?) can emanate from the mind without verifiable evidence based on intelligence and creative imagination, alone, or on one's observations.. One (a true scientist) can THEN apply the Scientific Method to examine the verity of such ideas. This is ONE way in which new knowledge is developed . . . there are other ways, I'm sure (perhaps another unverified belief?)

It's not unfounded, it's likely, given that you have always woken up.

Name any non-physical or non-measurable phenomenon.

. . . . BTW, (IMO, of course!), For example, I would contend that Jules Verne had unverifiable beliefs (i.e., creative ideas) in submarine and rocket sciences, etc. . . of course, that was FICTION then . . . . and NOW we have verified vidence for submarines and rockets (yes, we've EVEN been to th Moon . . . unless you are in denial!). IMO, it takes quite a while sometimes to make the leap from unfounded beliefs to verifiable evidence. Another example might be String Theory.

The first submarine was made in 1721. Jules Verne was born in 1828.

And the use of military rockets was so common in the US that the Star Spangled Banner includes the term "the rocket's red glare" - and that was written in 1814.

The Congreve/Mysorean rockets were a tad less worthless than tits on a boar.
But they sure made a nice show and frightened the timid and ignorant.

    IMO, I am unsure whether you shall experience that option . . . . but . . . . WTF . . . I could be wrong . . . ! (Humor intended here --->) I thought I was wrong once before, but I was mistaken! (HAHA!!)

I would sort of dispute those

All of those experiences produce physical changes in the brain which can be demolished via CAT scan

    The experience cannot be measured

    The changes can

I thought I was wrong once before, but I was mistaken

So it turns out you did become wrong

Surely you cannot have a unfounded belief

If you know it is unfounded then it disappears as a belief

You may have a belief which others tell you is unfounded

You then have to prove it is founded

But if you are trying to tell yourself you have a unfounded belief

how do you go about convincing yourself it is founded?
