Definitely. There are several places in the SS that have the chemistry and available energy to support potential life. While I am skeptical of life in these places, it is WAY more plausible that life exists there than on the Moon. So you would be as surprised (but no more) to find life on the Moon as you would to find life in, say, the oceans of Enceladus? Put it a different way. If you were a betting man, which way would you bet? If you could split the money between the two possibilities, how might you split it? I would put all my money on Enceladus, and none on the Moon. Because I am extremely skeptical of life existing on the Moon. Alive is a binary state. Skepticism has a degree. Well, now you know more about my degrees of skepticism than you would if I hadn't distinguished them. So you're all for narrowing the range of thought? Less description is better than more description?
I think you have not been following the thread. I will bring you up to speed. Post 36: Sculptor made an obscure reference to a historical figure. Deliberately lacking context, it was more of a tongue-in-cheek sidebar challenge (so I assume). Post 44: No one got the joke; it was too subtle. Sculptor hinted. Post 48: I went and looked it up OF MY OWN ACCORD (more than anyone else here did), but found no reference I could fathom. I told Sculptor that I tried to get his joke, but after reading several paragraphs about AEthelred it still escaped me. It was too long a read. That's all. But you - you were so eager to take a nasty shot at me, you went off half-cocked - and now you have actually trolled by posting a flame without warrant.
That was a reasonable post. Dave merely answered a question put to him. I think you may have misunderstood somehow. (cross post btw Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! )
Yeh ok the thread topic.........."are you ready to die". Just sparked that memory "AEthelred the unready". So, just posting AEthelred 11, was shorthand for "no, i ain't ready", with an historical teaser tossed in for reference and entertainment. During my youth, I read history books for entertainment.(perhaps, that's odd?)
No matter what I believe in singular eternity. There are only so many shapes and colors, and since the universe has always existed we can occur and we have occurred infinite times. Giving the flux infinity capacitor.
and it does that without my consent. it's so rude. one day in the infinite future i will find a way to stand outside of it and then poke a hole in it to deflate it myself. we could die at any time and i mean everything in the universe, going down like the titanic. i think the big bang was a collision of two or more universes with differing properties. like bubbles that collide, they can merge or pop depending on the variables. we are only aware of immediate dangers but we can't be aware of dangers outside of us or unknown to us and just as with any life expectancy, so the universe's projected death is only that, a projection. it doesn't take into account accidents. why does water freeze or boil at certain temperatures or why is the speed of light what it is etc? i think these are rather arbitrary and we think they are fixed, it is only fixed to our understanding and within the laws of this universe. just as lifeforms exchange dna and create differing beings, i think the universe is similar.
1 of my theist brothers told me of a soldier dying on the battlefield who asked for a cigarette & spent his last couple minutes smoking. He then said it is sad the soldier did not use that time to ask that his wife be told he loves her. Despite stupid movie scenes, I think if he loved his wife, she did not need to be told so by some stranger after he died. It is freaky to me to criticize what someone does as they are dying. <>
Yes I am ready to die if only Death would accept me already. This planet is a hellhole and yes I want to die already because I'm tired of humanity and my life in general.
