www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-40053527 Junocam's mission to Jupiter has revealed some dazzling pictures below the atmosphere of the giant planet, including cyclones as large as Earth, all packed together: Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! https://qz.com/992338/nasas-latest-flight-over-jupiter-reveals-beautifully-turbulent-storm-systems/
I just had my telescope out last night looking at Jupiter. I didn't catch that view however. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I guess that the mid-latitude cloud-bands don't extend to the poles. I wonder how much deeper into Jupiter we can really see from that polar view. The photograph makes Jupiter look superficially like a transparent ball of gas, but that can't be right. Interior pressures should make the gas liquid at some point and even solid towards the center. I doubt very much whether the result would be transparent and glass-like.
I knew there was a reason I came here! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! I have a theory of Jupiter that is not in accordance with the mainstream science theory of Jupiter. Nature won't accept my paper. Maybe I'll "publish" it here. Basically I think Jupiter is made up largely of blue cheese. If you do the calculations for Jupiter based on it being composed of blue cheese the numbers work but they (Nature) don't want the public to see this because it would cut the existing NASA funding for projects involving Jupiter. I'm hoping the pictures I get from my roof will convince them to publish anyway.
The atmosphere should be thinner at the poles and they are probably using enhanced color, probably composite pictures and maybe even some other spectrum of the light waves.
A giant wheel of blue cheese? Tasty, Now all we need is a picture of another planet that looks like a tossed salad and we can supply them both fresh to the Restaurant at the End of the Universe.
If you find The Salad Planet and add it to Jupiter you might consider compressing them to put inside the iceball Pluto so they arrive fresh I got the feeling while we're not exactly off topic Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
