You admit that the sacred text of Judaism, which comes from Moses, who got it from God, which Jesus followed, is a mistake?

How do you determine which parts are a mistake and which parts are not?

It certainly _contains_ mistakes. (Compare Genesis 1 to Genesis 2, for example.) And that shouldn't be a surprise, since it came from word-of-mouth stories - and we all know how reliable those are.
    Your own morality.

Bingo. As an atheist I do the same thing.

But, if he really cared, wouldn't he give them good data to make a decision with? I know I would.

Billvon basically admitted that Biblical morality is no different than secular morality. And yet:

1 Corinthians 14:33King James Version (KJV)
33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

If I were a God writing a book to the human race, I'd certainly include more than superhero comics and magical fables. I'd give them the solution to world starvation, and a model for the perfect form of govt,. and the cure to hundreds of diseases, and the solution of world peace. If I were a REAL loving God that is.

Do you have kids? At some point you have to let them make their own decisions based on the best information they (not you) can get.

that's a nice pollyanna view of it. i guess it makes the concept of a god/creator seem less of an asshole. not the real life feeds on life, kill or be killed, dog eat dog world we ACTUALLY live in by DESIGN, intentional or not!

    Yes

    I have kids

    Yes

I let them make their own decisions based on their own information

    with no input from me

If you are implying god is the equivalent of dad

where is the exchange point where god cuts the apron strings?

Anybody like to put a age on it?

Nope. No equivalence, just an analogy to how we treat our kids when they grow up. (i.e. telling someone exactly what to do isn't always the best thing to do.)

According to the bible & mainstream Christian belief, god does tell us what to do. We are to obey god in everything all the time. Sin is disobeying god. The very 1st disobedience severely pissed god off & it has been perpetually angry at humans for being the humans it created. It is god's way or the hellway.
God is not comparable to parents. God is the worst possible "1984" insane obsessive dictator. IF the god of the Christian bible were to exist, it would be many times worse than Hitler.

No - never had kids. But it's irrelevant. Even if I did, I wouldn't make up the rules, explain them poorly and then threaten to send them to hell if they got it wrong.

    So the question still remains

where is the exchange point where god cuts the apron strings?

Like to put a age on it?

Do men follows the teaching of the torah ? No. If you tell your kid don't stick your hand in fire, but if he keep insisting so it get hurt so is this society. Preaching is one side , being is the other side. ( what you sew that is what you will harvers )
If it would be as you think , people of israel would not survived from Abraham's time to the present time/ the times to wipe out Israel out of existence were many , yet He brought them out from four corners to the land He give to Abraham.

    Tell that to the Jews.
Make up your mind, did the Jews survive because of Judaism or was it just luck?

There's no "age." Again, God is not a parent.

Right. But let's say you explain them pretty clearly to a bunch of people. They go off and tell their friends. They tell their friends. Then someone writes it down. Then 500 years later someone translates it into another language. Then part of it gets lost. Then they translate the remaining parts into yet another language. At that point there are some errors and mistakes in the text.

    Is that your fault?

You can believe that if you like; no worries. I don't.
If that's what you believe - OK.
    Agreed.
Sounds like your version of God is pretty grim. But it's your life; believe what you want.
